While on track for the first time, DRS orange icon popped up on the bottom middle section where ADAS features status is displayed. This is the first time I am seeing it since I got the car 6 weeks back / 655 miles since. I understand DRS stands for Drag Reduction System and my instructor said something i did not quite understand and an explanation for the icon is not in the owners manual. Can someone who knows why the icon popped up and what the car does when it pops up explain please?

I used to see it on my 488 spider over speeds of 70mph. (I know a gurney flap used to open to dump drag).

As far as I knew the 296 only has the active rear spoiler. I have driven a few on track. Never seen that light.

There’s a flap at under the diffuser that opens up at high speeds. That’s when the DRS icon comes on.

Noel, that seems like the most logical explanation. Would you by any chance have a picture of same that u can share? I notice this icon coming on whenever I am driving little spiritedly :) on public roads as well. I’d like locate it in the vehicle just out of curiosity.

When the DRS icon comes on, it means that DRS is already active, correct? That is, the driver need not push a button to engage the flap or activate anything, yes?

Yes the DRS is active automatically no switch to press. Sorry most of the times I drive alone so can’t take a pic unless I hook up a GoPro and me aim it there. But that’s what it does the flap opens in the back
