Hihihihi was planning a little weekend with friends (911s, TVR and a few ferraris). what are the best driving roads around the UK? I've heard about North wales but apparently police there is not known for its sense of humour.... We are all from london. Any advice ? Cheers TA
Worcestershire out to the Brecon Beacons have some fabulous driving roads, easily accessed from Cardiff which would be a fun place to stay (need somewhere with safe parking for your cars though, as in any city). You are right about Wales traffic police- pretty draconian, so take care (and your road angels) Why not go to the Isle of Man? No speed limits... Robert.
Autocar did a one-off last year showing their best photos and also having the UK's best driving roads. The following suggestions are the nearest to London from there and are in no particular order: - Wiltshire A360/B390. Stonhenge - Chitterne - Heytesbury - Oxfordshire B4425/A361 Cirencester - Burfird - Chipping Norton - Hereford/Worcester A44 Worcester - Leominster - Gloucestershire A429 Cirencester - Warwick - Lincolnshire A157 Wragby - Louth - Suffolk/Camb A1123 Newmarket - Huntingdon - Northants B660 Peterborough - Bedford Hope that helps.
The B660 is just down the road from me, and has become a victim of its own success. Most of it between Kimbolton and Bedford is now restricted to 40mph. The B645 however is a great road, from St. Neots to Higham Ferrers. Lots of fast sweeping corners.
My personal vote is the m6 toll road. Its 2 pounds worth of the best fun you can have.Although I have experienced a Range Rover driving at 65 on a completely empty stretch of this motorway in the fast lane.
Look on here for somne amazing roads. Evo have used a few of them for their tests and I have done a few of the Welsh ones. www.pointandsquirt.co.uk
without any shadow of a doubt, the isle of man has the finest public racetrack in the world at almost forty miles long......sixty five percent of it has NO speed limit, and we have no gatsos.......checkout "Isle of Man Weekend 2004" for further details. cheers, d
