Hi Guys, As i have just got my 355 i can't work out how the front fog lights turn on, should they come on with the rear fog lights?? because thats the only switch i can think of! Any help would be good
I'm actually experiencing the same thing, but I think my switches may be out of order (?!) Whats the correct order of the console switches infront of the shift lever? There's five of them and from left to right, I know I have lock switches on the right, but seem to remember my others (shocks, lights) seemed backwards.
they work for me only when i flash the high beam while the headlights are down i cannot switch them on by any of the buttons, and i'm under the impression that this is a diff between US and Euro cars .. ? if it is, is it a simple thing to set? what about half-taillight illumination (sorry for thread hijack)
Boy, answers to this simple question seem to be going everywhere... Let me try to clarify this. When you said driving/fog lights do you mean those round/circular lights on lower part of front bumper cover? If yes, I have another version of answer to your question. First you'll have to turn the light control stalk one click to turn on the side position marker lights then those circular/round driving/fog lights can be activated via a switch on the center console. I'm at work so can't verify all these but I'll do once I get home. ...and there is a rear fog light???? this is getting confusing... sorry if i'm no help here :-(
I will try playing with them again as soon as I get home. Yes, I am refering to the round French fog lights on the front of the car.
If you had a Canadian car those round fog lights would come on automatically when you start the car to act as day time running lights. I have a US car that was supposed to have been converted to Canadian Specs but for some reason they don't come on automatically. To turn on mine I have to have the parking lights on and then flip the Fog Light switch on the console.
I can confirm that mine do not work. My switches illuminate various lights on the dash when probed, but the light does not match the switch. Fog light swith illuminates defroster, shocks flashes the fogs, and defrost activates the shock light. Somebody put it together wrong - something else to sort at my major. Difficult to do???
yes i believe on a euro spec 355 they are flasher lights, not fog lights. they can be used to warn oncoming vehicles about traffic patrol officers without raising the headlights.
They are not fog lights, They are passing lights. Your fog lights are located in the back. When you are driving and you highlight someone to let them know you are going to pass, it would take too long for you eyelids to open and flash. So they are placed on the bottom of your bumper. Again, THESE ARE NOT FOG LIGHTS!!! I went through what you were going through. Then the dealer enlightened me. If you want fog lights you have to install some in the front. X
When you get a chance, back up to a wall and turn your lights on, then turn your fog switch on and you will see a brighter light turn on. That is your fog lights. Ferrari is more worried about stupid people rear ending you in heavy fog so they focus on the rear. Smart I think....
I thought both front and rear were fog lights. The rationale I once heard as to why front "fog" lights are placed low is so that the light doesn't reflect back into you as opposed to using your regular headlamps. Also, many cars have a pictographic with a lamp and a squiggly line in front (which I assume is meant to denote "fog"). The front ones have the line dipped down, while the rears are vertical, but both have squiggly "fog". In my old Alfa 75/Milano, I used to use the rear foglamps to change my rear light signature should I suspect that CHP was traffic trying to pace me (I would dodge into a pack of cars and then turn them on). Don't know whether it actually really worked but it was fun playing with them.
Ok, just checked the repair manual. At least for the 348, the factory calls them fog lamps: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your spot on the money there I just tried this and surprise surprise they turned on I was confused because I had a 91model 348 and I could drive with both headlights and the lower lights on Cheers
I went through the same and even the previous owner believed it was fog light. In Norway is it mandatory to drive with the light on all times and it would be benifical to have those on instead of the headlight (eyelids) during daytime. I drive with the parking light only during day time and so far I havent been stop by the police. (after 4 years in use, but not on a daily basis) Best Regards Jostein
My fog lights (2 round lights on bottom of bumper) stay on with the switch in the down position. Helps light up directly in front and to the sides.
