Is the drivers seat supposed to be higher than the passenger one on a 1999 360 (standard electric seats). It seems to be mega high in comparison, resulting in a compromised driving position. Is there adjustments possible once the seats are removed?
The key word in your post is "Std Elect seats" Your question is in two parts. 1) Is the drivers seat supposed to be higher than the passenger? Depends, you can raise & lower the seats electrically 2) Is there adjustments possible once the seats are removed? NO. The seat only moves if you plug the connector in to power them up.
Yeah at maximum “lowness” the drivers seat still sits a good few inches higher than the passenger. Was wondering if this is intentional or if perhaps there’s an issue with the seat...
I have a 360 with electric seats. I don't notice the driver's seat being any higher than the passenger's seat. I do find the driver's seat higher than I would prefer -- it is hard for me to see easily through the windscreen (my eyes are right at the top of the screen). On the other hand, there is plenty of headroom, so I don't think the seat is unusually high. I have a spider, so I usually have the top down. Seat parts diagram: https://www.ricambiamerica.com/car-diagrams/ferrari/v6-v8/360-group/360-spider/electrical-seat-safety-belts.html Electric seats guide and movement parts diagram: https://www.ricambiamerica.com/car-diagrams/ferrari/v6-v8/360-group/360-spider/electrical-seat-guide-and-movement.html Note there is no distinction (that I see) between the guide and movement for the passenger and the driver's seats, so I don't see a mechanical reason in the parts diagram for a different height. But look yourself -- you may see something I have missed. Good luck!
If one wants maximum headroom the OEM CF seats will lower the seating position around 2-2,5 inches. Someone with more knowledge could input the actual value, anyhow it is somewhat much.
Seat heights for both driver and passenger seats are supposed to be the same. If one seat is higher than the other then my bet is there is something wrong with the electric seat height mechanism. Those rods are known to go bad and starts to slip.
How long have you had the car; is this a change or just an observation? I have seen spacers under the front edge of the runner and I have seen them removed only on one side (or they were added on the other I don't know which). That will make a difference in the height of the seat. SO, it is possible that they are different and you can adjust it by looking at the spacers (take the seats out and check). 360 CF seats will lower your head about 1-1.5" but it isn't that it sits lower. The back is curved differently so your head is lower but I find that curve hurts my back. 458 CF seats are more straight backed and sit lower by about 1"; plus they are really comfortable.
