I have specced my Speciale to include this no cost option and I noticed there are 4 height settings have some questions:

    1. Without this device, would the overall Speciale Racing seat height be any lower?

    2. Can the seat be tilted to have the front section under the lower thighs raised? For instance, the trailing part be set at the lowest and the leading end be raised by 1 step higher? I am looking to achieve the sinking and snug feel like the racing bucket seats.

The Owner's Manual makes no reference to this device hence my query.

Looking forward to any comments and feedback.

I'm under the impression that the seat configuration is set at the dealer on both sides using this tool. It can be adjusted with this tool but not like the power seats.

The seat can be tilted. You can use the second, maybe also the third hole in the front to make the front come up. I use the second front / lowest rear...
The Lady at the Atelier confirmed that the seat-height with the device would be 20mm lower than without...

Thanks Andy for the great revelation!

Would you be kind to take a picture of your settings? Thanks in advance.

Assuming the Speciale seat lifter is the same as the F12 (which I believe is true), I posted pics in the F12 section a while back

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/441594-racing-seat-lifter.html

The "standard" race seat has 4 bolts securing the seat to the base; the bolts can be removed and you can adjust the seat vertically and, to some degree, add some tilt to the base. You can do this at home, just be sure to torque the nuts, you do NOT want a loose seat.

For the lifter, it is a simple pump handle...up/down. The F12 version came with a electric seat back tilt adjuster. Again, while we ordered this on our Speciale, I'm unsure I've seen a car with it installed so cannot confirm.

The seat bases are completely different, so unfortunately you cannot retrofit easily.

I drove FNE Speciale with the seat height adjuster and my head hit the roof with crash helmet on, dealer car without my head cleared the roof. seat is slightly higher on lowest position with the adjustment.

Thanks for the link you posted earlier, the F12 however appears to have a different system from what I have seen on my 458 Speciale. There is visually no pump lever in the 458.

What the Speciale features perhaps a newer and much simpler a base frame that supports the race seat bolted by 4 screws with 4 different height settings for the fore and aft respectively.

Sorry for an off topic question, but has anybody heard the Speciale's horn? Is it a air horn like the good old days or still sound like a Ford?

    congrats on the car.

the "device" you picture is/are the standard racing seat mounting plates similar to a/our 458, though looks like the front edge has evolved. to adjust it, you need an Allen wrench and a 10mm socket

the lifter described above in the F12 allows you to move the seat up/down vertically while you're seated in it. no wrench required. interestingly, was a no-cost option as well...

in our 458, we set the seat for me, and had a custom booster pad made for my wife to put her in the right position

That is identical to the system used in the 430 Scuderia.

Since the driver's seat adjustment device is a "no charge" option, is there any downside to ordering it for the Speciale?

The seat with and without the device visually appears to be of the same height if positioned at the lowest setting.

Upside is the height adjust-ability for owners of smaller physical stature and the tilt-ability for alternative lower thigh support.

Downside is a possibly larger bracket with some minute weight penalty.

I drove a Speciale yesterday with the adjuster fitted at it's lowest level. It does take away some headroom and at 183cm (6ft) tall I suspect I would find the helmet rubbing against the roof lining.

RC33, my Speciale has the same Driver Seat Adjustment Device as yours. Dealer was uncertain if this mounting system is the option one can opt into. Said there are some instances when Ferrari makes changes to certain options and just does it ie. eliminate the assumed pump feature similar to F12, or were the pumps not on hand at assembly time. Either way, I am fine with the set up, don't envision using it. I may also tilt the front of the seat one notch higher, though the access to the inner bolt looks challenging.

A few asked about headroom. I am 6'3", no issue with head clearance on the lowest setting. With helmet, brushes the top, but not a problem. Will use Velcro instead of a HANS device when on the track.

I believe the 458 Speciale has more of the 'fixed' yet adjustable device for a simpler, lighter and more focused solution whereas the F12 features the lever 'pump' type that adjusts by lifting the entire base of the seat but does not allow tilt adjust-ability.

The pump type can easily lever 'pump' up and down to accommodate different physical stature of drivers with quick ease on the go.

This system is the option. Otherwise the drivers-seat would be like the co-drivers-seat - no adjustment at all...
The car displayed at the Atelier did not have that option (that was back in October last year).

Seems to,be conflicting info on this thread... Is the seat lower without device than one with device set at lowest position?

I need to lower more than the bracket clouds me. Any tips ? There is some company that sells a lower bracket for the racing seats ? I am 6.1' and my head is always hitting the side of the roof, and I like to be down in the car, like a racing car.
