As we all realize, this factory sticker containing primarily the "build date" does not have a long life and decomposes rather quickly. Does any one have a solution? Can a new one be ordered from the dealer ... a new sticker, that is, not another California (which I suppose is the only temporary fix until that one goes bad too).

Before it starts to degrade cover it with clear bra material.

How bad is it? Can you post a picture? Is it starting to bubble already? Once the film that covers it starts to bubble, it can begin separating from the actual data sticker, thus removing some of the information.

I now find that it is a 2 piece sticker ... a bottom decal (of a silver color with the printing) and a top clear plastic sticker (which is the one that downgrades by wrinkling). I believe I'll try removing the top sticker by applying a little heat and hope it separates without taking off any printing. If I'm successful, I'll then just cover the decal with "clear bra" film for protection.

I removed mine without heat. I'm sure heat wouldn't hurt but not too much because the printed info might come up as well. All my info remained in tact. Just take your time and peel it of carefully and slowly.

Now where can I get some clear bra material?

Contact a local "Clear Film" shop and I'm sure they'll put on a scrap piece for a few dollars. if that. Auto Super Shield may have a location there or contact 3M.

Here are my stickers in their current condition. 2010 delivered in October 09. By the way, rest of the car is perfect... not a scratch on it.

careful with the heat... sticker could be from thermal printer... too much heat and it all goes black

I was under the impression that it was like a "best if used buy" sticker, like on food. When the sticker starts to go, I trade it in for a new one. Is that not right?
