Well, that's the question at the heart of the matter really: If you as the driver know that you are right about the car or the team and all your criticism falls on deaf ears, why not go public with that and hence create pressure on the team? In Prost's case it got him sacked. In Alonso's case last year it made sure the team pulled together and did its best so he could bag the title at the end of the year.
