I recently purchased a Huracan. The performance is amazing but the car is hard core enough that it would be less drivable daily than my 360. I am told the 458 is also a much firmer car and even less a daily driver than the Huracan. Is this true?

Not my feeling at all, very much prefer the 458 as a daily driver. More comfortable to me. It did feel slightly firmer, but not in a negative way. To be fair, I did not own the Huracan, only drove it for half a day over a two day period, and that was after I'd already decided to purchase a 458. Although both get a lot of attention, the Huracan got just a bit more, and frankly I preferred that the 458 received less (maybe not related to your question).

Owned both and will say Huracan was hard to get in and out of and a lot of flash. But the engine and electronics made it more a DD overall than 458 to me. Both great cars.

What was it about the engine that made the 458 less a daily driver? Less torque? Louder in normal driving?

Owned both . I agree the car had better electronics and gearbox than the 458 making it a better DD. However, it's lower, a bit harder to get in and out of , has a terrible blind spot and attracts too much attention for me to drive it daily. I think the 488 is better than both as a daily driver. Between the two, however, is likely go with the 458 vs the Huracan as a daily ..

    ?

I find most Lambos much harder than most Ferraris. I definitely think the Huracan is harder than a 458. Also, when talking ease of use and "livability", the 458 has a lot more luggage room. The 360 is harder than both the 430, 458 and 488.

The 488 is on another level in terms of comfort.

Just go for a ride and see for yourself. That's the best way.

My huracan spyder is too tight on the inside to be comfortable DD. I never drove a coupe but I hear the spyder is smaller inside due to roof mechanism. I'm 5'10 and 190 pounds.

    458 spider was more comfortable.

Awesome! My husband has only driven my 458 once, driving expensive cars is more nerve-racking than enjoyable for some people (go figure).

    :D

Initial Q by the OP was:

My answer is ... a 458 is not a less driver than the Huracan. A Huracan also misses all emotion :)

    Same problem here.

One needs to be creative to find new places to hide the keys every week! :D

All modern super cars are very drivable with dual clutch transmssions. What gets in the way is the attention they attract (huracan and 458 equally bad in that regard) and parking worries.
In addition there is this guilt or fear of putting too many miles on such cars.

Other than above they can be driven every day. Both 458 and Huracan easy to do so.

I owned a 458 spider and now a Huracan coupe. As a dd, I give the edge to the 458 only because of the blind spots on the H. Other than that, I found comfort mode smoother on the H and sport mode more aggressive on the H as well. As for lacking emotion, I don't know how anyone who has driven an H can come away with that impression. My heart races every time I step on that pedal, it is scary fast.

    You said it.

And I do feel the bittersweet dilemma you refer to: on the one hand we have to and should drive them, a garage queen is a maintenance nightmare. On the other hand, and even though I don't plan to sell, I don't want to reach say 50.000 miles too soon (I'm at 21k). One much achieve that elusive balance of not driving it at all, nor daily-drive it. It's trickier than it sounds.

The 458 and the Huracan are two mesmerizing supercars from two of the most special car brands in the world, imho. Very similiar in a lot of aspects, but with slightly different philosophies. Traces of it can be found on both when taking into account how both brands started and stand for. I'm a die-hard Ferrari enthusiast, so I'd always have a Ferrari over a Lamborghini, regardless of eachothers' merits. The main feature I love about both is that both are dream supercars that can be driven with ease, something that was impossible until the second half of the 1990s.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

I had a 458 and now I have the Huracan.
Huracan is a newer project and so better as a DD.
I have magnetic dumpers and they are perfect.
I think 488 has to be another very good DD.

Does daily drive account for steering feel?

I think sound is such a critical part of the sports car experience and making a car seem raw and powerful
. The factory Huracan exhaust is a real disappointment except at wide open high rpm and the backfiring when you back off the gas.

I had both a Gallardo and R8 before I got the 458. I find the Ferrari to be much more drivable for one major reason: The seating position. It feels as if I am sitting pretty high in the 458. Gives me a very panoramic view of what is ahead (and right in front) of me. It certainly adds to driver confidence. In the Gallardo and R8 (and presumably the Huracan too) the seating position is much lower which hinders visibility in all directions. Relatively speaking of course.

According to me visibility is not crucial on this kind of cars ;)

458 is better than Gallardo by far but Huracan is better than 458.
Till now, never say never again, I've not owned a 488 but it is for sure a great car ;)

Also have had 2015 H coupe and 2015 458 spider. Of all of these, the best was the 458. It had the best feel of driver engagement with the car. The 488 is still only one month old with less than 150 miles so maybe I will change my mind after I drive it more. The H is fun, sporty and fast, but doesn't give me the same feeling. I drive the H full time in Corsa and the Ferrari in sport or CT Off. Even in Corsa the H feels too smooth.

I find the discussion about DD when it comes to F cars interesting. I would love to know what percentage of owners drive their cars daily. How many put on more than 10 K per year.
