Every time I see this guy I want to slap him in the face until the end of times... sorry. Odd colour combination on the interior of this car.
I hate him. I hate Cars and Bids. All should know that they simply delete comments that they dont like, think are repetitive or will hurt an auction. They actually emailed me and said this when I asked them why they deleted on of mine! LOL! So much for transparency. And the last 550, with the shill bidder that @Ferrari55whoa and I pointed out, they kept it up for way too long as they had made a video for it (invested their money) so they did not want to close the auction. Also, the interior is horrible in that car! (Ok, no more negativity today, thanks for letting me vent!)
He clearly didn't do his homework on this one. And he was definitely struggling to find "quirks and features". And why is he always dressed in his underwear when driving expensive exotics? Doesn't know what the HVAC STOP button does Calls the handbrake a "fly-away" hand brake. Mentions the SPORT button but doesn't seem to know how to use it on his test drive. There are numerous Ferraris with the immobiliser timing circuit (not just the two he mentioned) Talks as if the options were cheap (back in 2000). Ditto on the interior colours... And what happened to the mirror controls?
Funny he glazed over that little 'quirk' of this car. Oh well it's a "drivers car" Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's probably just dropped down inside the console. The retaining clips on those Audi mirror panels are hopeless.
At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'm assuming Doug DeMuro is a YouTube influencer? Why should I care what he says about anything?
Anyone else catch when he was reviewing the window sticker that the car originally had modular wheels on it? Kind of a disappointment for the buyer. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Somebody actually paid extra money for all that gray leather? Must have matched his wife's purse or shoes.
Super interesting was how low the cost of the options were. This is before Ferrari clued into how high they could actually charge.
agreed, and I don't really understand that "window sticker" as its like it was re-created. Ferrari never called Grigio Titanio "Metal Grey" (as far as I know) on the window sticker. Our 550 certainly does say "Grigio Titanio" on the sticker.
What’s good about Doug demuro is he’s driven so many different models. So he has a real valuable opinion when it comes to what a great car is or not
As a chief instructor for a dealership, I drove as much or more and yet I dont have an annoying YT channel! lol The best thing about Doug DeMuro is.... nothing!
My issue is he's I feel he has lost credibility buy pushing cars on his bring a trailer knock off. He's gone from a reporter about cars into a sales person to profit himself.
I believe cars like the 550 can only be appreciated over the long term. The very first I test drove left me cold to the point I felt stupid for having it at the top of my list of dream cars for 25 years... It took me quite a few test drives with different examples to begin to understand what it was about, and in the end it's a very sporty GT car that I think cannot be fully appreciated and understood within short drives. In this context I will always chuckle at all these youtubers who pretend to offer car reviews after only a short drive. These cars were designed so that owners could actually live with them, not just drive them around the block for the odd Sunday morning run. I think it will not be possible to ever beat for significance the approval of Harry Metcalfe, who enjoyed the 550 so much whilst reviewing it that he bought one and used it daily, and he has in depth experience with most exotic cars like very few proper journalists, notwithstanding click bait youtubers who change cars like you and I would change underwear. One cannot pretend to offer anything but a superficial opinion when test driving such a car for only a very short time, and it shows in the superficial points that often take most of the room in a large majority of youtube reviews.
He didn't seem to know the 550 had fog lights in the front grill and the 575 does not. A much more obvious tell than the shape of the grill.
The good trivia question is, how to tell them apart from the rear (of course there is a way, not needing the 575M badge some late 575 had)
I don't think it's about telling you what cars to like. He has is personality and nuances....whatever he has carved his niche on YT. But what he has done is shown access to a pretty wide variety of classic and exotic cars to today's world. Before today's YT-ers you had Top Gear and Motortrend and a few others which may have done a 5 minute segment on any given car. Doug, Jayemm and others are now revisiting these cars with a better perspective. Not just to sell cars from the manufacturers, but thru the eyes of an owner or future buyer. In doses, they are all great, some more than others. I could listen to Iian Tyrrel read the ingredients of Cheerios all day long
Where else can you get trunk review space on an XJ220 or learn about the dome lights on a Bugatti EB110? Or hear about ride comfort on British backroads? This is why I watch some these guys. I can find pictures or regurgite specifications about anything. Sure I'll likely never own some of the high dollar Exotics they review, but other obscure cars or more normal supercars, I would love to learn about life with them. Both the nuances and quirks (sorry), as well as a little more knowledge going into a purchase. The C&B thing was shady indeed, but didn't he sell it off last year to investors and may be nothing more than a pop up face on various auctions?
