$6000 to replace it. Got a rock chip and before I could get it filled, it spread over half the windshield.

what is the policy of insurance on these? i was always told insurance would replace it because it was a driving hazard... just minus your deductible?

    Insurance will pay.

Now some insurance companies (here in the States) will pass it along to Safelite, which use their own/aftermarket windshields which do not work with all the cameras, etc. Had to replace my wife’s F250 Safelite with OEM 2 months later.

I’m only saying that for the non exotics all y’all may need to replace.

But yes, insurance will pay minus deductible.

That has been the case on other windshields but I haven't looked into it yet.

Running PPF on my windshield has certainly paid off on not needing a new windshield for me. I replace it annually on the 812, and it’s always taken a beating. I put around 10k miles per year on the 812 though, so I get my moneys worth

I have 4mm thick ppf on mine, 100% unnoticeable from the outside and 95% unnoticeable from inside looking out. Certain lighting conditions will show any imperfections. Cost was $500 with replacement included. I had the entire car PPFd and ceramic coated with them as well so not sure if that was a discounted price.

About $500, the first application I could tell it was there but they redid it and I haven’t noticed it since. I have no deductible glass replacement coverage on my insurance as well but I’ve heard oem replacement glass isn’t immediately available. So I do what I can to avoid making any sort of claim on my insurance and the PPF does a good job of allowing me to drive the car and not worry about windshield cracks. There is an off chance it will crack the glass through PPF with a hard enough hit or if it hits on the very small edge not covered by PPF

I had not heard of putting PPF on the windshield. I may ask the dealer to do this. I just dropped the car off. They ship the windshield from Italy by plane so that is part of the high cost.

My service tech also told me that they have had multiple cars in for windshield replacements. There is a lot of construction in Austin right now and more rocks being thrown around.

STEK had a product but from what I understand it has been discontinued. I have it on a few of my cars and it does work well.

I'll double check what ended up going on my F8 spider last week, but I believe it was an STEK film. The owner for the detail shop I use is involved in STEK, so they have all the latest STEK stuff.

Just heard back, the film is an STEK product called DYNOflex. Which is what also went on my 812 in 2020 and 2021. Here's a link to the product page from STEK USA (the picture on the page is from my detailers old location which is now Ferrari of Seattle's service location funny enough). https://www.stek-usa.com/windshield-film

Thats the product that was discontinued. I also have a shop and we are a big STEK dealer, I think my partner bought up everything they had left.

Interesting, I'll have to ask what their plans are for the future for windshield PPF. This stuff works great, shame that it's being discontinued

I've heard of ExoShield as another PPF for the windshield, but no personal experience

I had to replace the windshield on my Speciale for the same reasons as OP, thankfully State Farm handled it well fully OEM glass replacement and I was $250 out of pocket from my comp deductible...I think I was at 7-8k all-in for the replacement cost. It was a good reminder for me why I keep my comp deductible that low

I looked up the part number for my FF, shipped it from overseas, I think it was like $2200, $500 to install. This was around two years ago

Yeah well I had heard about $3000 prior to this happening to me but that was pre-money printing by the govt. The cost about doubled after the govt printed $6T in 2020 and 2021.

I have ExoShield on my 458 and now the F8. We have tons of sand here and between daily driving and tracking the 458, the windshield has started to look sandblasted when driving into the sun. Wish I’d done it sooner on the 458, but at least the F8 was done right after delivery.

Cost was around $300 (my PPF guy does a lot of work so I get some discount) and is not noticeable, except a slight distortion in some places when viewed from the inside out.

I recommend the product as opposed to replacing a windshield. Even is it needs replacement every year or so (there are already small chips in the film).

Same problem here, the 458’s suffered more battle scars from street driving than on the track. I’ve come to despise tandem trucks.

No product is perfect, but IMO it’s better than nothing.

I hadn’t either until recently. I now have it on all my cars. I had it done at FoSV and they actually did the windshield with a blue tint. U can’t see the blue but it is easier on the eyes in daylight and night. Big fan of it now.
