    the link is here:

selling dealer got many photos with paint reading meter, it's measured 8.99~11.96 mil all around and over 19 mil on the hood with PPF, he claimed that for yellow car is normal to have thick paint and insisted that it's the original paint.

I found it hard to believe because according to pro body shop original paint should be somewhere about 4~7mil, what's everybody's paint meter reading if you have measured? If you have a yellow 458 sample, that'll be even better

Considering that Ferrari paint is some of the worst paint of any car make from $10k to $1M, I would guess the front hood was repainted due to rock chips. I can stare at my paint and it will chip, that's how cheap their coatings are. Beautiful car. If someone shows up with a paint meter when I sell my car, I'm going to just turn them around and direct them to the nearest Porsche dealership or Lexus.

My 2011 Giallo Modena had a paint meter read before I bought it..Most panels were 7.1-7.7, with some panels being 5.2-6

Quality of paint has nothing to do with thickness— if it’s the tri-level yellow, yes, it’d be thicker than white for example. Your eye should be able to spot paintwork if there is any however, not a paint meter gauge. That is used to find considerable deviations from one panel to the next, not to find a full repaint. Also I use it before paint correction to determine the same thing as non factory paint jobs often require a different paint correction combination and process.

This sounds perfectly normal. Remember, Ferraris are painted both by hand and robot… the areas sprayed by hand and the areas nearby them are going to be thicker as the robot adds more… other areas like door jams and often the roof and deck lid (for some odd reason) end up being thinner.

Is having the car respray/repainted bad? Esp with Ferrari paint quality, most of the paint on my car is orange peeled lol

respray/repainted are mostly not the best thing, next owner/dealer are going to wonder, why the car has been painted, a lot of time is because of accident, of course if you have photos/videos with shop receipts to prove that's not due to the accident, then it's probably ok.

I actually agree, they've been doing quite a good job lately. It used to be the old joke of, how do you know a Ferrari has been repainted? Cos it looks good.... but now they're quite good.. good thickness, very little orange peel, good clarity etc... (no idea what Kent means by easy chipping; doesn't make sense) But anyway, I work on a lot of luxury and exotics doing paint correcting and Ferrari has been much better than most others... Aston, Bentley, Rolls and Lambo have had more sanding marks, marring, holograms, swirls, etc from the factory than Ferrari lately... just sayin.
