Hi my painter does not have the exact 300/6 paint code , the brand he is using has 300 and 300/12 , I chose the 300 . Can you tell if this is too light or it looks right before the clear code ? Thanks

300 is said to be very slightly darker than 300/6, which, in turn, is slightly less orange than 300/9 (appeared with the 228 GTO in 1984, first used on 328s from mid-1987 onwards), which, again, in turn, is slightly less orange again than 300/12.
I think therefore that 300 is closer to 300/6 than 300/12 would have.

Thanks for the info , I thought the 300 is a darker tone , I know 300/12 looks more orange so I chose 300 since I only have two choices . but this looks to me is between 300/9 - 300/12 . Or if this looks 300/6 then I am happy :) 300 should look more like the pic below ?

To my untrained eye, your post #1 (unfinished) looks a lot more orange than your post #3 (finished). Post #3 seems to have more burgundy or it could be a difference in the lighting (inside vs. outside). Maybe buffing and clear coat makes a difference?

while looking at this thread I'm confused a little about the different shades of red, Magnum's 308 always looked more 'orange' almost Rosso Dino on some episodes.

they claim it was rosso corsa but then it would be less orange, more a darker red ?

I was under the impression 300/6 is a more orange red ?

My 328 is 300/9 and appears darker than a few early model 328's and 308 I came across.

    I am a little confused.

There is no way to tell a true color from a photo. All cameras have a different interpretation of color. Please don't make any decisions based on these photos :(

Not to belabor the subject, but I love the comment that Magnums car looked different on different episodes. Could there be a zillion factors involved with that...the easiest being your TV set!

so if I understand correctly, FER 300/12 is more orange than FER 300/9 and FER 300/9 is more orange than FER 300/6 and 300 is the least orange of that range?

The car in the first seasons could not have been "Rosso Corsa", because That Name was not used on the carbed cars, painted by Salchi. The Name appeared only with Glasurit paints, more or less the "two valve injected". The standard Salchi red was "Rosso chiaro", which is, in fact, slightly darker than "Rosso corsa".

Absolutely; and all films too, before the cellphones made photography something different.

Just curious, I think my eyes deceives me sometimes. Anyway I'm not saying the Ferrari was orange, but Orange flame red on some cars looks very orange, less red in matter of perception.
