I am debated between getting black calipers or standard. Would be great if someone can post a photo of the standard calipers here. Thanks in advance for the help!

Nero Grafite (graphite black) anodised brake calipers are offered
    as standard
    Note very rewarding

Perfect, thank you! I think the standard look great. Not seeing too much of a difference between standard and black.

Yes but this color ages very badly
i saw many who are discoloured with heat (faded effect)
    To be discouraged

Ferrari pushes to take optional painted calipers

Avoid unpainted calipers. Paint is not just for looks.

Interesting. Does the fading also happen under normal driving conditions or only under severe heat (at the track)?

no : color painted have special paint that resist with heat and rendering is otherwise more beautiful

No, this does not happen Under normal driving conditions : only when fast driving and track use

But, the rendering is not very aesthetic compared to painted calipers : satin aspect seems dirty compared to shiny paint ;)

I did an expensive 812 TM build with dark grey and red livery. They advised me to use the standard calipers so I did. You have to be careful with the script on some of the painted colours - it is yellow. I was a little surprised they suggested it, and I would probably have preferred painted but it will look good judging from Scrappy’s picture above.

Please clarify since I don't understand the conclusion that has been reached.
Is the standard black caliper a wise choice under normal driving conditions ( not tracking )?

Good eye. The new anodized caliper also has slightly different shade of grey on the raised area of the casting, but it appears to become more pronounced with age, presumably due to the heat pattern.

    I agree !
That’s why IMO standard calipers is a good choice

I had yellow calipers on my Italia (10k miles) and I have red calipers on my Speciale (5k miles) with track use and they are like new !

I assume you meant to say it is ‘not’ a good choice. What’s confusing is that the anodized finished is offered despite this apparent fading issue. Are we sure it’s not from the use of harsh cleaning chemicals?

    Yes I mean NOT
Sure that using harsh cleaning chemicals increases the degradation but heat is the main problem !
IMO Ferrari forces the customer to choose painted calipers and don’t worry with standard calipers are almost never chosen by buyers in Europe at least

Great, thanks for this. I assume your standard calipers still have the original dark finish? What’s the age and mileage of the car if you don’t mind me asking?

My standard calipers look new, but they have only 8 mos and 2K miles on them. I’ve not seen issues with standard calipers on older cars.

Please enlighten me, my understanding is exactly the other way round: Paint has no functional benefit for brake calipers.
