I do like the Veyron, I don't think it's that bad looking, obviously theres the performance figures, from an Engineering point of view it's an absolute master piece, also theres the immense build quality and the quality of the interior it's really like a Bentley in there. Compare that to other mega hyper cars like the Hennessy Venom and the Ultimate Aero SSC which are like stripped out race cars to keep the weight down. Meanwhile the Veyron has it's luxurious interior that I would quite happily drive to the south of France in and drive back in a weekend if I felt the need to, I doubt you can do that in the others... Comfortably anyway. And if Bugatti made a stripped out version of the Veyron, (I know the Super Sport was slightly lighter but I think only by 50Kg's or something) then how fast would it be?

Saw one in Monte Carlo(black/orange trim) last year parked in front of the casino along with a couple of 458's a Bentley, an Aston Martin DB9, a Mercedes SLR McClaren, and other exotics but the Bugatti had the biggest crowd around it, mostly Japanese that did not know what it was. If fact, a friend that was with me was asked if it was his car since he was standing by it and I think that was the proudest moment of his life.

I couldn't care any less about those 1000hp beetles if I died right here and now; however I do not particularly hate them. Silly cars for people with deep pockets who can't handle a RWD car. Great.

No, its by far not the best looking car

The quality is admirable but the thing is sort of a flying elephant

I'd much rather drive a Pagani Zonda or the Hennesey Venom

with 1000 hp you need a elephant to house it, agreed I would rather have many other cars before the Veyron.

It's a cool car no doubt, but for some reason I don't like the early versions. I prefer the ones with the updated headlights.

    Do i love it?

    No. I don't.

I truly appreciate the engineering behind the car and I will admit that it looks good in person (especially if its all black). However, to me, it is a VERY expensive version of a 911 Turbo S. Its outrageously fast, has awd, has a paddleshift trans, and an extremely luxurious interior.

I resect the car a ton, but it seems like too much of a science project to me. I like cars with passion, like a Zonda or F50.

Saw two today, an SS at Miller in that incredible blue carbon fiber, and an original in light blue at McLaren of Greenwich (the two lots are like a 1/4 of a mile apart, with a Ferrari showroom between them!)

The car may not be beautiful but man does the amount of care put into every curve, line and panel, as well as how everything interacts, make it difficult not to be drawn to the damned thing.

Thanks to Miller, I've seen two in two-tone: one was silver on metallic white, the other was red on black.

Given the way the car comes together by the rear of its doors, I have to think that major stylistic decisions were made on the assumption that cars would get two-tone finishes. (Too many lines and gaps clash in single color paint jobs in this area, whereas in the two-tone finishes this area makes more sense.)

I wouldn't want one of these cars for myself - I'd be more into the CGT's handling or the Zonda F's GTness - but there's lots to admire and be awed by in the Veyrons.

Do all GS have a transparent top? I ask because the roof on the car we saw wasn't transparent.

Yes, it is transparent, but very dark from the outside.

Appreciate it as a technological achievement but so what. You can take a Porsche Turbo like FF did and make it go 240.
An acquaintance of mine has one and says its no fun to drive accept to garner attention. He likes his F40 MUCH more. Plus, and this is funny since he is extremely wealthy, he hates the maintenance costs which are ludicrous

I "appreciate it as a technological achievement but" if it doesn't handle exceptionally well, so what?

    Give me a CGT any time . . . ;)

I can assure you, they handle exceptionally well and are a blast to drive. Your friend obviously doesnt drive his too much. I just got back from the GoldRush Rally in mine.....spend 5 days driving it 1700 miles. Im going to go out on a limb and say anyone who bad mouths the car hasnt driven one or hasnt driven one enough. Its nothing short of amazing. I was a little curious myself with all the internet chatter about them and wondered about the high price tag.......No more wondering at all, I understand it perfectly.....the Veyron is one of the best. 1700 miles of pure enjoyment. Zero issues, Zero problems......and as far as attention......it garners less attention than Lambos I have actually.....a few pics maybe.....but alot less than what you would think, which is nice.
