I currently have Fabspeed headers, Fabspeed bypass pipe, Capristo Bypass valve, and a Larini exhaust. I've grown tired of the entire bypass piping and valve system of this car and would like to eliminate it. This Capristo racing system looks like the answer, but I wanted to ask anyone that may have this unit one thing about the system.

When looking at the picture linked above, the part of this exhaust that mates to the headers in place of the bypass piping has not flange/bracketing. Even the stock bypass pipe for the F355 has the flange/bracketing. Is Capristo simply not showing something here? Does the system by chance come with a flange/bracket/clamping system similar to that of the stock headers?

Just wanted to check here first. Otherwise, I'll try calling Capristo USA on tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Nick

THAT... SOUND.... IS.... AMAZING!!! I'm running Fabspeed headers. How did you connect the Capristo racing exhaust to the Fabspeed headers? All of the pictures I've seen of the Capristo, there are no connecting flanges on that part of the exhaust. Alsmost as if it needs to slip onto the factory headers and and use clamps to hold it.

Does the Capristo come with flanges that aren't shown in the following picture:

    http://idisk.mac.com/genyosai/Public/f355/capristo.jpg

How does the part circled in red connect to your Fabspeed headers??

    Thanks,

    Nick

One question: Does this system have a way to incorporate the thermo probe (on the 5.2 motronic system) that is positioned on the oem system just past the exhaust bypass valve? I would think if it still mounted it after one of the new valves, there might be enough heat to still keep the motronic happy, and prevent a "check engine" light. If not, then I see a problem with CE lights all the time.

Also, (just my opinion) but the standard Capristo sounds better to my ear...
I believe this is the standard one, not the one with dual exhaust valves

Here is the one with dual exhaust valves....does not sound as good to me....of course he is "short shifting" it at around 6000rpm, which doesnt' help matters

My bypass thermocouple is removed, for my Larini hasn't anyplace to mount it. However, I get no CEL (1448). So this Capristo should be fine.... At least for me.

Oh definitely and without a doubt, the car in the first video gets my vote (The original and the best sounding Capristo).

Last year, I was forced to decide between putting a Capristo Stage III and the Capristo Race exhaust on my car. After "exhaustive" research, I decided to put the Capristo Stage III exhaust on my car. (I had a Tubi muffler prior to the Capristo Stage III.) The deciding factor came down to the Stage III has much louder Formula One "scream" over the Capristo Race exhaust. I found the Capristo Race exhaust to be more subdued (if you can really call it that) than the Stage III (they are both still VERY loud at wide-open-throttle.) Since I don't race or track my car, and I wanted the loudest, most obnoxious, awesome sounding exhaust note known to man, I decided to go with the Capristo Stage III. If you plan on racing or tracking your car, I would go with the Capristo Race as it will give you some legitimate horsepower gains. (I think that Capristo claims that the Race exhaust is supposed to add somewhere on the order of 25 horsepower.)

I don't remember who said it on here first, but for the price of the sales tax on a 360 Modena, you can put a Capristo exhaust on your F355 and have a better looking, better sounding car that has performance on par with a 360. That fact alone has kept me from having any interest in buying a 360. (Challenge Stradales excluded of course. That's a horse of another color.)

Even a standard f355 sounds far better than a 360. Regarding the CS. As fantastic a car that it is, its sound does not sound any were near the sound of an F1 scream as a Capristoed f355.

I could look past the short comings of the Challenge Stradale's exhaust note, but you are correct, the CS doesn't sound anywhere near as good as a Capristoed F355.

In my exhaustive research to determine what exhaust to put on my car I listened to a Kreissieg equipped F355. I liked the sound of my (then-current) Tubi better than the sound of the Kreissieg, and for the price of the Kreissieg you could buy two Capristos.

The cappy twin valve makes more HP but as you noted, it lacks the full F1 sound of the original. I had an original 355 cappy and the sound was great but there was NOT any 'seat of the pants' HP increase ............ sure enough, that cappy only made 7RWHP over the stock exhaust ....

Anyone ever found a sound clip of the Tubi Style Evolution exhaust for the F355?

I clicked on that youtube link expecting to see the same old crap that everyone does when they make a video about their car. A full 45 seconds of bs credits and "a so and so film production" fakery, followed by some horrible flavor of the month rock band blasting so loudly you can't even hear the exhaust, and terribly shaky camera shots. Thanks for not doing any of that. Now if only everyone who makes car exhaust videos would learn from this... excellent production!

If not some new crap band then the same old Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd song played ad nauseam day after day, year after year on every rock station nationwide over the rarely captured sound of a Ferrari exhaust at full blast.

The 355 race exhaust system from Capristo is the ONLY exhaust system that is avail on the market that will help save your engine long term.

A select few of us independents in the business know what is wrong with the OEM Y piped 355 exhaust system, as a 355 owner, you need to figure out what is more important to you, sound or long term reliability. The sound that most of us like comes from the Y pipe when the valve opens, the problem is…it’s causing most of the 355's problems. The Capristo 355 race version exhaust system was developed to help make the 355 cars engines last.

Many years ago when Capristo started testing different headers to develop their headers for the 355 they came across some issues that are inherent in the actual OEM design of the 355 system. They concluded that the OEM exhaust system with the Y pipe was contributing to the header problems. Thus they did not develop the headers.

I Agree with most of you on the sound, that I like the Capristo level 2 or 3, they are both fantastic sounding but if it was my 355, I would only consider installing the Capristo race system that removes the Y pipe.

Ever wonder why the Y pipe version exhaust system was not carried on to the 360 models? The 360 uses many of the same cylinder head parts as the 355, but no real header issues other than some pre cats failing.

The Tubi 355 EVO system is a direct copy of the Capristo Y pipe version level 3 system from what I have been told.

Just had the Capristo race version installed om my 355 Spider and I can tell you first hand it is an awesome sound....loud yes, but, the car sounds like it has some serious balls on it. After a good romp on her there is virtually no heat compared to what my 355 would put off before with the original exhaust. I read on Capristo site that this exhaust systems helps mitigates the cracked exhaust manifolds known for the 355 so I am hoping that the hype is all true.

I went with the better performance, longevity option. I too love the F1 scream but more than happy with my growler given all the other benefits.
