Forgive the dumb question; I don't have the car yet. I've seen some talk of a spare tire and I spotted an eBay auction for a car jack and tire iron for a 348 and it has me questioning my sanity. I thought the 348 comes with a can of fix a flat and a good luck card from the Pope.

No spare tire, a couple of cans of fix a flat and you're good to go.

    Congrats on the car :)

Was it a real tire or a tiny donut spare?
Where'd they put the darn thing? And where'd the jack go?

VTC is correct, No jack because there's no spare tire. Fix a flat that's all.
If you have the tool's there's a grey box underneath which holds the can of fix a flat.

Congrats on the car as well!

I believe some of the euro models came with spare tires. For us US boys, they provided a can of goo in the bottom of the leather tool kit.

My partners 348 came with a full sized spare (front wheel dimensions) as well as jack/spanner and the leather case for them.

My 355 came with a space saver as well as complete set of tools.

South African cars of that vintage seemed to have spare wheels included even though the factory may have marked them as an optional extra for other markets.
It had more to do with local buyer preconceptions more then anything else.

Looking in the "Ferrari 348 Gold Portfolio", at the test of the 348tb in "Car - South Africa" magazine, it reads:

"One of the strangest aspects of the 348tb is that it comes without a spare wheel. According to our Italian correspondent, Giancarlo Perini, Ferrari has discovered that owners 'do not stop to replace a flat wheel any longer' and the decision was made to provide extra luggage space in the nose, as well as to shorten the rear overhang behind the motor. Weird."

In a Road & Track article, it says "And where's the spare? Ferrari says 348 drivers who suffer a flat tire aren't interested in changing it themselves, so none is fitted in the car."

I carry a recently purchased can of fix-a-flat (don't trust the original, 20 year old can), a tire plug kit, and a portable inflation compressor along with the tools in my trunk.

If I only had a radio in my car, I could listen to it while I change the flat tire... :)

No spare on mine....I've got 355 rims, so I stuck an original 348 front tire/rim in the boot with an aluminum jack from a 350z......not a big fan of the fix a flat and puncture kit idea.....though AAA is always there.....

I'd still like to find a Ferrari Jack/wrench kit from maybe a 355 but haven't found one yet as I never got my card from the Pope!

Wow, I figured that was known by all. Shows what a closed little world I must live in :)

I think I'll post it in another thread and see who else might enjoy it.
