I heard this somewhere and was curious to know where it was true.
do ferrari select who can buy the enzo?

do you have to own an F40 and or an F50 to own an Enzo aswell?

is it the same for an F50? (you must own an F40?).

I'm a big ferrari fan and i've always wanted to know the truth...
    thanks alot :D

If you're buying one now (i.e. secondhand) then you just need the money. When they were new then in theory Ferrari sold them only to their favoured clients. In practice there are always some that go straight onto the market and get bought by whoever anyway. Besides, exactly what is involved in becoming a favoured client does rather seem to depend on how much business Ferrari think they might get out of you in years to come as much as what they've had from you in years past.

I don't know about the F40, they made a lot of those, but there was an application process for the F50 and enzo. In fact, Ferrari was so intent on keeping F50's out of flippers' hands that in the US, you could only lease one for two years before owning it outright. As Jonathon said, all you need now is a pile of money.

hadn't heard that on the Scud.

Also, I thought part of the 'favoured clients' requirements were you needed to have owned both the F40 & F50 [at least according to Brad]

With the Ferrari factory closed down way into January, and the economy in the crapper, I'll bet the only 'invite' you need these days is a fist full of $$$, and I ain't talkin' the Clint Eastwood kind... :)

I'm not quiet sure you have to own an F50 when the enzo was first released, 349 F50's where made and officially 400 enzo's.

Its just Ferrari's favourite customers who could 'have' one when they first released I think:).

Unlikely. Remember we're talking about a few hundred production run across the world. First time buyers are still going to have a tougher time with limited run editions. The California on the otherhand, I don't think it will be entirely difficult.

What specifically does one do to become favored? I know, dealer relationship, # cars owned and purchased and collected. How many?

Furthermore, am I correct in assuming if you are the first buyer you don't have to pay the mark-up?

Regardless of my wealth at the time of purchase I can never justify paying 30% + premium

I became a favorite client by the amount of business I gave to my dealer. Purchased five cars and traded back three of them within 18 months. Now own a used Enzo and a new 599. Will get the Scud spider in a few months and the CA in the summer. Have owned ferrari's for over 20 years. Have found a store (Ferrari of Long Island) that treats me fair and square. Doing whatever I have to, to become an original owner of an F70 in the future.

I know a guy that was an original owner of an Enzo that never owned a 288/F40/F50. He owned a couple of Ferrari challenge cars and raced in the European 360 and 430 Challenge series and currently races in the GT3 (I think) championship. He also owned a lot of road cars over the years (several 360's, a 575, plus 3 430's and 2 599's so far). I'm sure there are more that I don't know about.

No, the FX70 will go to selected customers, not just too anyone that can afford it. I would think that production numbers would be around the same as the Enzo, give or take.

To get a brand new Enzo you needed to own at least 2 other Ferrari's at the time that you were purchasing an Enzo. But since they don't make any of these cars any more then, all you need to find is a whole loada cash and a willing seller.

ok.... and has anyone established whether or not you get it at MSRP if you buy it new through ferrari.

What I am trying to find out is there ever a point where these supercars sell for what they were supposed to sell for (in theory)?

Inquiring minds would like to know

Yes, if you were invited by Ferrari to buy an Enzo you would get it at MSRP. Why wouldn't you?

Only 349 Enzo's were made to begin with, too. Ferrari (kindly) lumped on another 50, then built another one for the pope, who auctioned it to raise funds for the December '04 tsunami. Well, that's officially – I'm sure they made several more on top of that 400.
