I just got back from grocery shopping in my 360 Spider this morning. I was loading it into the frunk when a young man walks over. We chitchat a bit while he was checking out my car. He finally ask the dreaded question. Before I answer, I ask what does he drives. He said, "a Porsche 911 GT3" in a non-condescending tone while pointing to his car an aisle over. I told him the truth because I find that he is a car enthusiast.

I just watched this video and reminded me of this thread
Some of them are funny and some of them will make you mad, I can imagine what things my poor car has experienced when I am not around

    https://youtu.be/xyg9Mc8B17E

And I have experienced almost all of these ones

I usually tell them, "you can look it up on Ebay."

Sometimes I add that it costs less than many of the cars you see every day in my (fairly affluent) area. Newer 911s, Panameras, Range Rovers, Teslas, etc, etc...you see them everyday and nobody thinks twice about it.

Took out my 430 last Saturday night. I went to a waterfront location that is near a ghetto part of town. It's got nice restaurants and a diverse crowd of people frequenting the restaurants.

I have been to this area countless times and I have parked many of my other nice cars that I have owned throughout my life. Never had any issues. I was reluctant to get a Ferrari because of the attention it attracts. I have only owned it 2 months and I am not a fan of the attention. I get the car home and park it the garage. About a hour later I go back to the car to look it over. I find two greasy hand prints on the hood. My CSI investigation concluded that more than likely some skanky disgusting female bent over and used my car as a photo op. I was livid...still am.

I am a man of principle. It's not just cause it's a Ferrari, it could have been a Miata. It's the point. It's mine, I work for it, don't touch it. Animali

Whoah... Possessive much? If it had been a dude's hands fair enough.. But some girl taking pictures on your car should be welcomed attention.

I will never understand how anybody thinks it's ok to sit on or lean on someone else's car without their permission. Whether a Ferrari or a Corolla it's just totally rude.

You don't know the area... We can all fantasize that it was some hot chick, but I highly doubt that. So in that regards, yes I am possessive in not wanting some hood rat putting their hands on something I work for. They have no respect for anything.

My first instinct as well. Hate the disrespect of another's property. But, I try to keep it in Perspective that no harm usually comes from it and even if it did, it's just metal and it's fixable. Less stress, happier life.... Otherwise I'd walk around an angry arse most of the time, which my wife already says I do enough of.

Lol...Wow you guys are very liberal about this. You own Ferrari's and you're okay with ghetto street trash putting their hands all over hood of the car to take pictures with it?

I guess I come from a different school of respect where I was taught not to touch other's property.

I watched this occur with a Gallardo in NYC as I had dinner with my wife. 3 hood rat girls, taking pics, bending over, lifting their skirts, touching the car. No respect, just straight up animals. So forgive me, I've watched this scenario and it's not pretty.

Having been in smaller towns in the upper mid west the last ~15 years, the consideration for ones neighbor is substantially higher than in the major metros.

I suspect the spectrum of disrespect of personal property reaches extremes where you are that we rarely see here. A few hand prints but no damage? (Shrug). Dents and scratched paint, yes I'd be pissed too.

I blame upbringing. Ferrari, Corolla, or geo metro...respect ones property. Had a convo with a friend recently. Some people just have to respect for personal property. Touching and leaning on a car is a no no! tsk tsk! And they get mad for calling them out.. They respond back with "It's just a car man!!" Blah blah touch ur own car or just keep ur hands to yourself haha

Let me guess?? "Let's Make America great again" has your vote?
I think you are confusing being "liberal" with being respectful to other people's property.
One thing has nothing to do with the other.

How much did you pay for the car?

I got a great deal! Less than a quarter million.

What do you do for a living?

More importantly, I have never been divorced.

Just tell them "doesn't matter what I tell you you'll just google it anyway"

I find now with smartphones and Google everyone's an expert including my barber! They find the least expensive version of what you have (salvage, current bid on eBay etc. ) and then write yours off at that price. My barber is unimpressed with my 360 because he feels it's worth only 45k. Not worth the effort to have a "battle of wits with an unarmed opponent"

I'd get a new barber - why support an idiot? It doesn't matter how much something costs, it should be evaluated as it sits... and I don't see how anybody could look at a 360 and not be impressed.

I've worked hard for my Ferraris and feel blessed to have them. I strive to be gracious to anyone asking about my Fcar and have never had a bad experience or encounter. My answer to the cost is "a lot" and smile. When asked what I do for a living I tell them the truth "plastic surgeon". When kids ask how I got the Fcar, I tell them "lots of school and hard work". If they want to take pictures by the car, I let them. I offer to take pictures of kids sitting in the drivers seat. My goal is to let them know, I'm just a regular person and not obnoxious just because I am able to drive a Ferrari.

My feelings exactly. Live in a small town only one barber. Nearest alternative is 10+ miles away. I try to stay away, but sometimes i cave because of convenience.

    What can get you 80k?
    Brand new BMW M4
    Ferrari 360 Spider
Most BMW owners will not be impressed BUT there is a difference.
Most people driving brand new M4s are leasing them, I believe I read somewhere there is a way to lease 360s but it is not exactly cheap.
The M4 has a 4 year warranty , anything happens and you just drop it at the dealer, the Ferrari gets something and money starts flying away.
80k might get you a Ferrari, but that is not the end of the spending, I am not saying our cars are not reliable, but maintenance is based on the original price and hasn't depreciated, parts are really expensive too.

Most people are not mentally prepared to spend thousands of dollars in a repair and see it as normal.

You know how many times people have asked me how many miles per gallon I get in my car? I always say I have no idea but it is not great, it is not about the price per mile it is about the smile per mile.

I try to do the same when I get the adolescent boys and middle aged men asking about the car and showing an interest. I usually try to be a gracious Ferrari ambassador but I just don't like the cost questions. I am usually very evasive with that one.

It cost $160k new but its 14 years old.

Or I say it's worth more than I paid cause I got a good deal.

Or it's less difficult to buy one, than keep it up.
