    Curious if anyone with first hand experience knows if the FF and F12 sound the same with the same exhaust setups. I know the compression is apparently higher in the F12 motor, but the motors are more similar than they are different. Does that extra compression make it sound noticeably better?

    Already covered here;

    Conclusion; it’s not just the compression but the whole exhaust which affects the sound and both cars have different exhaust designs. The consensus among the limited sample of people who own both cars is that the FF sounds better.

    Short of removing the engine from each car, and bench running an identical exhaust system on both, you won’t be able to do a true a/b comparison of the engine differences alone.

    Thats odd I would have thought the f12 was the winner and sounded better. Especially in the lower rpm due to the slight bump on compression.

    It’s the top end of the rev range where the magic lies. Anyone can sound like a turbocharged Audi at idle.

    Yes I would think the higher compression would play out better here on the f12:)

    I’ve had both, and while the FF sounds a bit more sonorous, the F12 is more muscle-bound and a bit more brutal. It’s all subjective of course. Onlookers have told me how “nice” the FF sounded compared to how “angry” the F12 sounded.

    And the Lusso is quieter than both of them, for what it’s worth.
