    Hi there,

spark plug wires for our cars seem to be quite expensive although not being really that special besides the plugs.

I decided to overhaul my wires as resistances were off. They should be in the range of 0.7 to 1.3 K Ohms depending on the length of the wire - including the extenders.

The work is basically dismantling the old wires keeping the red plugs and the red hoses. Important is to also keep the little metal hook that connects the core of the wire to the connector. To be renewed is the wire itself and the connector - That metal hook lives on in the new wires/connectors.

Most important is to get the right cables as they need to be carbon core wires and mustn't be copper core wires. 500 Ohm per foot or 1.5 kOhm/m is needed.

So here they are - High Performance Ignition Cables in 7mm, you need 7m for the 8 wires plus two wires to the coils (8952):

And also 8 connectors that need to bend to 45 degrees in order to fit the plugs (8181):
    https://www.123ignition.de/123-ignition-en/spark-plug-terminal.aspx

And also 2 connectors to the coils (8187):

Pull off the hose from the wire and also pull the plug from the connector. Measure the length of the old cable and cut the new one accordingly. Put the plug onto the new wire. Crimp the 45 degree bent connector to the cable AFTER you inserted that little metal hook into the cable - This is the connection between the connector and the wire. Spray some silicone spray on the wire next to the connector to slide the plug onto the connector. Then pull the hose over the wire. The new spark plug wire is ready for quality control - Measure the resistance from the connector to the end of the wire. Be sure you measure at then end of the wire at the very thin metal cable.

    Have fun in saving 600€/$...
