Hi y’all! I have read the 360 intake cover “touch up paint” thread, but have any of you F430 guys and gals taken them off yourselves and either taken them somewhere to be painted or done it yourself??

I live on the west side of Phoenix and have had all my work done at FMS and they are great, but Andy said it would be $1000 and half of that was the labor to drive them to his favorite place in Phoenix to get them painted.

I'm somewhat handy, but I didn’t know if these are a pain to take-off and back on or not?!?

    Any recommendations?? Thanks!

Interested. Mine also needs to be refinished. I would definitely go with powdercoat rather than paint though.

Mine looks like complete ****, paint peeling throughout the entire middle of the intake. I'd love to have both the intake and valve covers redone all in one shot.

But there was a user here who had theirs redone and stated as much that the wrinkle paint hides a ton of sand casting blemishes and a lot of sanding was done to make the intake paintable.

What causes it to go bad? My car is 08 with 45000km on it and looks new IMHO

Ferrari don't prepare the surface properly or use a primer.

It's a straight-forward DIY if a little time consuming. I did it on my old car: removed and refitted myself, and sand blasting, powder undercoat, and powder crackle finish. The cost was something like £75 ($100ish?)

P.s. the blasting and coating was done by a local company- not by me.
