Kevin Rev'n .. I will repost some photos after some usage , maybe in 1month or so. In the "DIY Felt Trial Repair " file posted above look at pages 9 & 10 where I did some durability tests after 6days. I put the samples under Hot and Cold water, Heated it with a blow dryer to soften them up and bent the vinyl sample where the 3 areas were "Flocked" !!! These "Flocking" samples held up quite well ... :) :) :)
Although this was day6 (vs day7) .. the adhesive is >85% cured. Only thing I noticed was that on the sample where I had the adhesive run because of applying too much - no scuffing up of that local area was done because it was outside of the sample region, I saw that a minimal amount of fibers came off.
    - This was the bottom sample lower right edge on page 10.

I promise to post photos in the future after usage...

Note: "GordonF355" ... doing both car doors took about 2hrs... from start to finish. Prepping the doors took the longest time. Then leaving it sit 24hrs before vacuuming the excess and cleaning felt off the car .. took about 30minutes the next day. It was not a long time. it took me longer to document all this material.... :)

Many thanks..... and to all good "Flocking" luck on bringing your Felt Seals back to a good looking state!. .. Remember ... "Flock It" .... :) :) :)

Well as the instructions indicated the curing is 72hrs to 1week for Full cure. The door Felt was very dry and hard so I decided to close the door and see how it held up after 72hrs. I would not wash the car or drive in rain until the 1week full cure passes. But after 72hrs it's tough enough for use.

Here are the photos of before and after(72hrs) of the driver door which was the worse. I opened and closed the door 4-5times ... I am pretty satisfied and the "Flock It" Felt is pretty hardened. In the close-up photos you can see the New Black versus the compressed original, but without the flash from a camera I can't really tell. The lighting makes it noticeable.

My OCD is very satisfied not that "My Eye Sore Crappy Felt" is GONE ..........!! :) :) :) :)

Please let me know how yours turns out with photos as you attempt the repair.

Good "Flocking" Luck to you all...:)

Just completed mine. Will post pictures soon. Not too bad, actually not time consuming at all. The material does go everywhere and I tried to clean up after I was done. Even this time of year, the humidity is high, so I don't want the material to "settle" while waiting the 72 hours.

Thanks "gordonF355" ... the joke is ... It looks "Flocking" good !

"ncjetskier" - I have left my windows down and closed my doors after 72hrs. I went out Sunday cruising and between the sun/heat beating on it I noticed that the glass going up after closing the driver door was cutting into the adhesive slightly. Thus I lowered the windows ... closed the door and cleaned up the class letting it sit for the full week now without use.

Overall it looks significantly better than the eye sores I had. I am sure the doors will reshape the New Felt similar to the way the original one has warn. So it will be interesting to see how yours look.

    Many thanks ....

Thanks for the heads up on the cure time. Did the Flock it mess up bad?

Not too bad of a ware mark on the Flock IT. Here is a photo ... there is a a "shiny" crease where the window edge runs up and down. Some of the Felt and small amount of adhesive was sort of rubbed off onto the window sharp edge. The loose Felt I would expect but the adhesive was not fully cured as it was 3days cured vs the full week.
You can see I have my door closed to 1 click (not fully closed) and the windows down while I wait the full week for cure.

I am still happy with the results... it will be interesting to see how long term the durability will be.

The photos make it worse because of the shiny texture differences.

Yes, but I need help on how to post a picture (I never have posted a picture before). I did a search and it came up with 500 responses without any stating "how to post a picture". Thanks for any help.

The first picture is after removing the remaining velvet up to the bend in the seal using Goof Off. After the removal, the seal was lightly sanded with 400 grit sandpaper.

The second picture is after applying the Flock It. It came out looking really good, but it is on day 4 of curing.

Wow "ncjetskier" ... your job looks great! Be patient on the full cure .. 7days .. :)
I's 200% better than it was .. real nice job!
It was worth the investment ..

I am thinking even if I have to touch up spots every 3-4years if the new Flock-It doesn't hold up it's not a bad job to do compared to the eye-sore of having the felt look so crappy.

Great work .... thanks for trying this ..

Ok, finally the seven days of curing has been completed. Window went up no problem and did not affect the flocking. I opened and closed the door several times without any coming loose. Seems to be doing well.

I thought it was good time to post some durability photos of the overall Flock-It repair process.
With cooler weather (in North America) it is a great time to line up projects that take some time for our cars.. :) Especially this Flock-It Felt repair for door seals which requires 1week to fully cure.

In general I am very happy, however it is not perfect as new ..
Passenger door is great ... no ware marks or degrading so no photos necessary. Maybe in 2-3months...

Driver door has some ware along the window edge only which is identical to the original 12yr old felt ware mark. I have included photos showing the ware mark which is normal... but the razor edge of the window appears to have cut through the Felt and thus into the rubber adhesive so a very small amount of dried adhesive is observed on the glass edge. Not a biggie as it's still much better than the eye-sore it was, plus I clean my windows after every cruise anyway (OCD kicking in!) and it comes off easily. It's only observed when the door is open .. when closed it's perfect and I don't get air leakage noises while cruising any more!

Otherwise overall I am extremely pleased ...
One other note is that the camera flash highlights the thicker/lush New Flock-It felt vs the original. In normal light or sunlight you really can't see any difference between the new Felt and original Seal....

3 weeks of Durability Use photos (narrow ones from my phone) compared to the Before larger photos ... the very last photo (red circle) shows some rubber dried adhesive rubbed off onto the window edge and it correlates to the repair section that is right under the window edge from the Before photo.

Good luck... and next update will be in several months.

I hope others give this a try for the Holiday Season !!
    Cheers.. Mark

Glad it's working out Chris ...
I have put about 300+ miles on my car since doing this repair... plus a lot of open & closing of my driver door because of also doing some interior work in my garage.
I showed my car last week at a local cruise and shared this repair with folks locally and they could not tell it was repaired when looking at it in direct sunlight.

    Good luck.... Mark.

I flocked the bottom of my driver's door seal last weekend (before it got cold) with great results. It cured for thirty-six hours at 75 degrees F inside the garage before a cold front arrived. Results are fantastic, and if I did not point it out, one can hardly tell where the old-new fuzz ends-begins.

Eager to begin this project, I was remiss in not taking a "before" picture. Use your imagination to picture a 14" section of the factory fuzz being partially abraded away from the seal. It was half-fuzzy, half-bare along the bottom from near the fuel valve to about the mid-point of "Ferrari" on the door sill.

Unlike Mark’s car where the abraded fuzz was visible where the glass makes contact above the door, my abraded fuzz was visible only with the door open but 100% concealed when the door is closed. My OCD compelled me to make it right … just in time for our local Supercar Saturday this weekend. ;)

    Great looking job "metaldriver" .

My window edge has stopped rubbing off. I think it has created a nice edge into the weather seal fuzz. Since I have done all my original repairs months ago - I have put over 800miles on the car and it has not come off.

I am pleased as well... I will post picks at the 4month stage after I did all my repairs.

    Happy New Year all !!!

I left the door seal weather-strip in place ... taped off both sides (carpet and sill) with blue painter's tape ... peeled right off afterwards with no mess.
