Great movie! Just got back I hope they are planning a sequel. I loved the Schumi/430 combo although I wished they did more with it. Perhaps the next time they can use an Indy Car/F1 theme.

Well true to my promise from over 2 years ago I went to see this movie on opening night. Went to the 9:20pm show at a theatre with as many showings as possible. The result was a 30-40% full theatre with almost no kids and no disruptions. As for the movie, I loved it. I have always been a Pixar fan and this movie did not disappoint. A big thanks to all the posters on this thread for not spoiling the movie for others and I recommend it to anyone.

As for characters, Luigi and Guido stole the show for me. I'm definatly going back to see it again.

Cars is the best movie ever. Period.

The whole movie was so funny - the kid stuff, the adult stuff - it was all so amazingly and wonderfully done... Animation is at the point where it doesn't even look like animation anymore...! Beautiful, incredible artwork, lots of fun characters - a stellar movie...

The Ferrari content was awesome, and I was giddy like a little school girl when the F430 showed up... If you noticed, the two maseratis in back of the F430 are green and white, so that the three of them make the colors of the Italian flag...

I'm eager too, to find out what Schumacher said in Italian... This was an awesome movie; everyone should go see it... If you don't laugh out loud from beginning to end, you need psychiatric care... And make sure you get there in time to see the short film Pixar "movies" and stay afterwards for the bonus stuff... Get their early and don't rush to leave...!

Those rims look like they might be accurate.

But shouldn't the 430 have a larger "chin" spoiler? :D

Okay; I guess my standard formula didn't work. Apparently this wasn't a bad film -- according to car guys. So I suppose the massive pre-release hype came from the fear that there aren't all that many car guys left.

The cars went to a drive-in to watch some movies. The movies were- Toy Story, Monsters, and Bug's Life. The twist was that all the characters in those movies were cars. While they watched the movies one character commented how great a specific character from each movie was (in which he was the voice for all of them).

    Really a great movie!

LOS ANGELES - Cars, the latest animated feature from newly merged Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, zoomed into first place at North American theatres with weekend ticket sales of US$62.8 million, but failed to do as well as some industry experts expected.

It was Disney-Pixar's third-biggest weekend debut and the team's seventh straight hit. While the movie did better than Deutsche Bank's forecast of a US$60 million opening, it failed to meet other estimates which projected Cars would match or exceed the US$70 million generated by The Incredibles and Finding Nemo - Disney-Pixar's top-grossing films.

'People were thinking it would do about what Nemo or The Incredibles did. I still say it's a solid opening,' said Exhibitor Relations President Paul Dergarabedian, whose box office tracking firm released the studio estimates on Sunday.

He added that Cars, a heavily marketed film whose star is a talking race car named Lightning McQueen, is competing for the family audience with animal cartoon Over the Hedge, which had weekend receipts of over US$10 million.

Mr Chuck Viane, Disney's president of distribution, expects Cars to cross the US$100 million line sometime next weekend.

Cars, featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Helen Hunt and racing icon Richard Petty, is the first Disney-Pixar collaboration since Disney acquired Pixar in January for US$7.4 billion.

The feature, which is rated G for all ages, tells how Lightning McQueen learns valuable life lessons during a forced pit stop in a sleepy town, is directed by John Lasseter, whose Toy Story 2 opened at US$57.4 million.

The Incredibles, which chronicles the adventures of a superhero family, opened at US$70.5 million. Fish tale Finding Nemo opened at US$70.3 million and went on to become the highest-grossing Disney-Pixar film ever, reeling in more than US$865 million worldwide.

X-Men: The Last Stand, the Marvel comics fantasy film starring Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, finished the weekend with US$15.6 million, lifting its cumulative tally to US$201.7 million and making it the first film of the year to break the $200 million mark. - REUTERS

I think some of the musical montages were long-winded, but all in all, it was a fantastic film. Pixar just can't do wrong...

I really enjoyed this film. I can't remember it exactly, but my favorite scene was in the tire shop. The line in the movie was something like:

McQueen: "Hey, I look better than a Ferrari huh?"
    Luigi: "Umm..... NO!"

What an awesome movie. I know that many of you don't follow Nascar, and maybe never did, but there is a lot of "old school" history that just blew me away. Richard Petty was "The King", back in the early '70's and pretty much retained that name, so to see the blue Dodge Superbird as #43 being the King was outstanding. Waltrip playing Cartrip as a sports commentator was hillarious. Especially the way he couldnt sit still. This is the first time I got so lost in a animated story that for a little while I forgot it was animated.

Richard Petty suffered a bad crash some years ago, and I used to have it on tape. He was very lucky to be alive. There are parts of that movie that brought tears to my eyes, and this will be a movie I will be going back to see again and again.

We took our son and his buddy to see this, both 18 months. It was their first movie, and they sat through the whole thing; something we weren't expecting.

This was the best movie I have seen in quite some time, at least a year. I loved the Ferrari references and the crazy little italian tire shop guys. I also appreciated the feature of the hudson hornet, which is probably all but forgotten to most people. The best part for me though, and the part that had me laughing the most, was the poking-fun-at-ricers scene with the cars on the highway witht he massive wings and crazy exhausts. There is so much more that I could write about it, but I think this is enough. I think this movie was made even more special by the fact I saw it at a drive-in theator, which is a pretty cool thing for the younger members who werent around in there prime. (myself included) I will unquestionably buy this movie the day it is released, and I hope it has lots of deleted scenes and special features.

Check out the book about the making of the movie. I got it recently as a gift. Unfortunately zero reference to the Ferrari's in the movie. As a matter of fact they pretty much snuffed out any of the Ferrari scenes anywhere on the net :(
