Here's a candidate, Alberto. The cam covers for the iconic Lotus twin cam motor. They actually came in at least three versions - the early one with the cast "Lotus" name, the "Big Valve," and the later ribbed cover.

The Ducati and the Lotus 23 are gone now, but the cam covers are still on my wall.

Found this one Andres, only glitch is the screw on the side. Easy to take care of though...
Do you think this is the most sought after?

Yes, that is the earliest, most desirable one, Alberto. Lotus tended to paint their cam covers except for the earliest cars, so you have leeway when reproducing them.

    Best,

    Andres

Here's another option, Gents: Dino covers on eBay. I don't know how to attach the listing, but it is item number 361466431309. Five-plus days to run, bids to start at $550, no bidders as of yet.

Great option Coop, my thought was to offer items at lower prices that no one would be the wiser, unless took them off the wall.

Of course, cannot use fibreglass on a real motor :)

Thank you Jon, Mike and Jamie for the kind words.

Mike,I really like your assortment of Alfa covers...There are almost 10 different types available.

Now you got me thinking, as AR covers are all over!

Jon, the backside is a sheet of fiberglass laid on sheet metal, then after it is glued,
it is filed in the perimeter of the valve cover to make it flush, but hey, you already knew this :)

Then, fill all imperfections, pop the bubbles, drill the holes, tap, sand, paint, polish, stud it and nut it. Then, get them here. Oh, and give the mold maintenace every 6 or 7 parts.

I think we went a bit overboard on this one, as it takes more than 8 hours to make each cover.

I will duly post in parts for sale, but alas, the price is a bit steep at $ 250 each.
Besides, I have to find delivery by bicycle to contain shipping costs low.

Just don't tell your wife, mine thought anybody that wants one is crazy, but she thinks we
all are, even though she loves Dino. Nice anniversary gift though...

The repros, are really really extremely nice looking, and, as it is impossible to find a real new one from a Dino, I am not going to hang an ugly Dino valve cover on "the wall".

If this works, we will be starting now with Lotus, Alfa GTA narrow head, Jag, Ferrari V12 (early). Got to find the black balls, not at Ferrari prices though.

    We'll see.

    Regards, Alberto

Alberto, I will take one for $250. It's a bit pricey, but obviously super high quality. I see the value and I've got just the spot on my wall.
Please pm me for payment details.
Thanks so much for doing this service for the car guy community..

What else? It has to be a 50's-60's 250GT valve cover.

Will be wrinkle black, rossa, or silver. Three flavours :)

Thank you for the kind words Andrew, it is very rewarding when the results are pleasing
and a fan of Dinoland is happy.

There were also BRM and Holbay cam covers for those engines, I believe...perhaps Brian Hart, too.

Jack, you are right and thank you. Where might I find some? the ubiquitous Ebay?
Which do you think have the most demand? And nobody is going to get into this crazy project...

Problem is, we can only make so many items, and shipping from El Salvador, would kick up the price. It's not like I am trying to become the valve cover king :)

But then, on the other hand, why not? the Marques are infinite...

In order to make it worthwhile, we have to make and sell at least 6 units, as the mold deteriorates after that quantity

At the time, I have a very rare racing Alfa cover, the 250GT, and the Lotus. That should keep things quite busy for a while. If I hire another guy, it might create friction.

THAT, is not desirable back home...we live another reality.

    Regards, Alberto
