I cleaned the shop today and put the 73 GT on the lift. #4946 started out in it's Dino life as a yellow, chairs and flares USA model coupe. Only 5 Flares and Chairs coupes were made for the USA. It originally sold June 2, 1973 at Hollywood Sports Cars to Thomas Brockmiller of Rolling Hills, Ca. The original price was $16,999.90 including tax and license. I bought it a couple of years ago where it was living in Las Vegas. I started taking a few parts off today with really no set plan on taking it apart. Pretty much on what I feel like doing for the day. Today I concentrated on TAV 106, plus tires off and battery out. If anybody needs specific pictures of anything, let me know. The journey begins.

    Hi Jon,

I really enjoyed the last restoration. It's funny how excited a buch of grown men all round the world are getting at the prospect of following your adventure. But excited I am too. Looking forward to it. Good Luck, not that I think you need it. :)

p.s. the blue dino has a great stance now

Glad you are doing this again Jon. We all learned a lot from the last thread and know we will get a lot more out of this one. Are you taking it back to yellow?

The grey color is the "safe" bet and would look good with the campy wheels, out of the three colors shown i think the middle purple would give the "wow" factor ( isn't that the same color as the 206 #10523?).<That car looks the dogs nuts.

Bicycling in the morning then back to work. While I was riding I stopped at Torrey Pines beach where a 32' grey whale had washed ashore, hit by a cargo ship. I noticed my last pictures weren't that sharp. I got a new Mac and so now I have to use a new photo editing program, photoshop elements. Hopefully todays photos will be more clear. I worked on TAV 110 today which includes bumpers, grill, badges and a few other odds and ins. If anybody has a source for the black rings that fit over the bumper posts let me know. As far as colors the grey one is now out as there was another Dino at Bella Italia just restored by Symbolic Motors, done in that color. It is also a local car. It did look fantastic though.

When you get to removing the rear quarter lights I would appreciate a few pics as you take it apart. I am not sure if some of the small sealing rubber is a generic item or a special part. Its been a while since I removed mine and unfortunately I didn't document the dissassembly.

    1) Years ago I bought the trim rings for the bumper posts to the bodywork from Ted Rutlands. Their term for them was "bumper grommets".

    2) I saw that Grey car too; modern color on vintage car, expertly done with a fantastic result. I always love Grigio Silverstone and that was the first time I've seen it on a Dino. Looked spectacular. The fresh paint job was of the highest quality and the car showed really well. After a while though the modern metallic just seemed too different for a Dino.
