I found this scan of an old Dino Comp photo while looking for Ferrari content from Japan. Figured this was as good a place as any to put this image so you'd see it Jim. The source website mentions the location as the Harumi Trade Center, but no indication of the date. Here's the source website with pics of other cars like the Pininfarina Modulo and Bertone Rainbow which also were on display: http://supercarnet.jp/Picture/Picture.htm >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a few more then - these come with the event date of 1977. Almost older than me. Sorce is here with other cars from the event and some later pics: http://blog.goo.ne.jp/koyapop/c/8fe878a99b976d0349668705d869944f >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of my all time favorite cars. Hope you don't mind it's going to be on our Dino tee shirrts we are printing up. I'll be sure to send you a couple when they are done!
Erik, you always post up the coolest stuff! Those last two links were a treat with a bunch of cool concepts or uniquely modified cars I hadn't seen before. Cheers!
Thanks! I am always looking for cool stuff and like to share when I find it. You could actually spend all week going through every linked page from that first website - www.supercarnet.jp If you scroll down a bit in the menu on the left and click on this "レポート" just below where it says "MAP" you'll find a page with incredible links to supercar gatherings in Japan that go back many years. No hi-res pics in them, but you'll simply be amazed by the endless string of awesome cars. Of course when looking through Japanese websites, it helps tremendously to have the language pack installed in your browser and another window with something like Google Translator loaded to aid in reading some of the descriptions. >8^) ER
I'll definitely look into that, thanks! Always great for a morning read while settling in for the day ahead.
While not really looking for it, I keep tripping over more bits of info on different Japanese sites. Apparently the show in 1977 was called "La Carrozzeria Italiana" and was held at the same time as the Tokyo Motor Show. Here's two more images in case they are new for Jim. I quite like the second one. I wish it was larger as it would make a neat wall poster. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sal just finished giving our Yellow Fiat Dino Spyder and Long shakedown test over several days through Sicily. All is great except for a noise from the timing chain which we're going to check out and fix. I'll head over in May take her for a test drive and I'm now thinking that I may bring her state side. He also tested our 208 GTB Turbo which is running perfectly.
Jim, When I clicked a Sports Car Digest link posted in another thread I got a popup featuring the Dino. Hope you're getting a free subscription out of it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What is the preferred international shipping method for something like this? Belly of a jet? Nothing would please me more then driving a Ferrari on some of the great roads in Europe. I have always imagined that to be the pinnacle of Ferrari ownership. Would like to hopefully do that one day. Back on topic
JG, I have a French magazine with a test drive of the Dino. From the '90s, rather mint. I am only in Florida for 6 days at the end of the month, will try to mail. If not, sometime at the end of May. Better than the other stuff I sent to you. Would rather give it to you in person. But, Pebble is looking doubtful. Its just amazing what it costs to get into a marriage. I knew it cost a lot to get out, but the start is just unreal.
Jim Forgive me if you have answered this before, but what mods if any did you do to the Fiat Dino? I am about to get mine back on the road with a fresh engine. M
Nothing really except going through everything. The usual. Rust. Noise in diff. Noise from timing chain. Brakes. Suspension bushings.
For a second there, I thought that was one of my photos... same location, obviously mine is a better angle Image Unavailable, Please Login
