    Nothing $500k won’t fix.

    Aside from the chassis shenanigans.

    Who in their right mind would buy a re-stamped car? Really? Unless it was done by the factory, then it would an L series.:rolleyes:
    The Mausoleum is most suggestive...

    Righto.

    I can’t see the additional photos that were on originally on the site but I recall the the photo of the “00964” stamped plate looked pretty good which begs the question if it was the original plate from “00964”?

    With the number scratched off the steering column wouldn't that infer it was stolen at some point?

    Many issues to address here:

    Known ownership histories of #00964 and #06688, were either stolen or destroyed;
    Body # 2142 correlates to what chassis number;
    Is the car being sold with a valid title, being sold on a registration or is it being sold as "parts";
    If sold with a title or registration, what chassis number is used and will the title/registration survive scrutiny;
    The car will have to be Ferrari Classiche certified to remove the cloud of the restamping;
    Car requires a total restoration, will Ferrari require a complete restoration by Classiche to certify it or can the majority of the work be done elsewhere?

    Given these issues, getting the car for free might be too expensive.

    There are and always will be plenty of people who will be lured by bargain priced "great deal"(?).

    In a world of antique/classic/exotic/vintage cars, countless people make that assumptive mistake everyday and done so for the 4+ decades I've been involved them, only to discover later they acquired a proverbial money pit from which only way out of is by either resell it as an unfinished ("great"?) project to some other dreamer/fool (and yes there will always be those) or finish it by cutting every imaginable corner to recover most of their losses before reselling it as "completely restored" to yet again to some other enthusiastic dreamer/fool only focusing on curb/internet appearance and a "good/great deal".

    Here, you are buying an original Picasso Frame, but the painting is a fake.

    Or possibly it is Van Gogh, saving money, and under this plate, is the original?

    Ever play 'toss a lit firework' to each other? Firework chicken, clearly with a long wick...

    Wow. This mess is listed a sold. I wonder if the insurance carrier(s) - if any at the time that these cars (#06688 or 00964) "disappeared" - would have a remaining claim against the proceeds of this sale. That would be pretty entertaining litigation!!

    It probably sold to the same guy in South America that bougt the BBQ one.
    Any of our countries might not be an issue importing it. Even then, I would not.

    So, I wonder if the proud new owner will soon be posting here about this pile. Just wait . . . Matthias or Marcel will probably swoop in and tell us that this won its class at Spa-Francorchamps in 1971 or 1974 (depending upon which serial number it raced under). I would bet on it winning Spa in 1974 because the few interior bits in the photos make it look like it is an E series.o_O

    Thank you Matthias! Restamped on new metal or, welded old metal on top of old plate?
    The new numbers look original, right?

    If the car is SOLD, then nothing will happen, as the buyer knows what he / she is doing.
    You don't go off and plunk an amt. of $$ on a car and then try to figure out the outcome.

    Regards, Alberto
