Are there any visual differences that were made during the Ferrari 360's run? Been trying to do some of this research by myself but I have yet to find any differences by myself. :)

    Not really.

The major difference between earlier and later model years have to do with the software controlling the F1 system (if the car is equipped with the F1 gearbox). These can also be updated on earlier cars at a reasonable cost.

I have a 2001 Spider, and regular people can't believe it when I tell them the car is 12 years old. Ferrari people still have to ask me for the model year when they see it because, generally, you can't visually tell a difference between earlier and later model years.

That pretty much carries over to the F430 as well, save for the CCB feature on later model year cars.

No difference in body design, except, some later models you could order small sunroof "holes". Externally, you could order with standard "starfish" wheels or pay extra for challenge style wheels. You could also upgrade front and rear challenge grills as well. Oh, and you could order with or without Scuderia Shields on the fenders.
Thats about it, for the external body look/design.

This is a reach. On Modenas the cap to the power steering fluid reservoir (at the front of the engine) can either be silver like the oil and gas caps or black. Not sure if this is a model year difference.

I had my 99 parked next to Cozfcar's 04 and this was the only difference I noticed.

there are plenty of part differences, including f1 software. get a 2002 and up which has most of the issues sorted, 2003 if you want the latest f1 software (2002 and up, especially spider, which has access compartment so you don't have to remove converitble top every time you need access to engine bay). plenty of threads on about this here.

The early 99s and euro cars do not have pre cats.

This isn't correct. No need to remove the top to access the engine. Maybe to change the clutch on the very early Spiders but not to do most everything else.

i think 2003 and up models are upgraded in some parts like wiring and more, so they can be a bit more reliable

Guys the OP asked about "visual" differences.

I believe I got them all in the 3rd post. Maybe someone wants to check that and see if I got them all. Thanks.

Yep, I think you got them all. No real visual changes that don't bolt on/off.

They changed a battery cable but I am not aware of any wiring harness changes. Oh yea, they added a GND pin to the OBD port but I don't know what year they finally fixed that. It is ridiculously easy to do and there is a campaign for earlier cars.

What about the headlights? I thought 1999-2000 models had normal headlights and 2001-2004 have xenon headlights? Or was it an option for the 1999-2000 cars and standard for 2001+??

The 'Ferrari F1 World Champions' badge on the glove box appeared from 2001 onwards, I believe.

John- The wiring harness changed in about Nov 2003 to fit a new 50 amp F1 pump relay with a different connector from the old 30 amp relay. Same for the CS and 575M.

    Visual differences, no.

Interesting, I see my power steering fluid cap is black. My oil cap and (what I think is) my F1 fluid cap are both aluminum. Is the newer power steering cap identical to those aluminum caps, or is it different?

Edit: Nevermind. I answered my own question. Ricambi lists the same cap as the F1 cap for the power steering reservoir. So they are the same.

Yes, first it was a option and 2001+ it was standard.

I think the air boxes changed colour at around 2001 too. Earlier cars seemed to have gloss black ones then they changed to brushed aluminium-looking.

Can you elaborate on this? Are you talking about a change in the F1 programming? (I can't imagine how the 6-speed gated manual would have changed)

I just haven't heard anything before about a change related to the F1 in 2005.

it seemed about as fast as the other years, just a lot less jerky, I liked it the old way in the 2003 and 2004.

The 2001 was super hard to take from 1st without bucking.
