difference in scuderia shields?

Factory Sheilds are "tucked-in" the fender, while the "aftermarket" shields are either stickers or just a mounted-on pieces.

My old 360 comes with factory shields and my F430 not, so I'm going go look for a good body shop to install the factory shields (bought from ebay) with the OEM tucked-in effect.

See my thread "installed new badges from Ricambi *pics*" its about 12 threads down in the 360/430 section. These shields are metal and to me look great on the car.
Really the argument should be not factory or after market, but rather do you race your car to deserve the scuderia shields! The shields were placed to identify which "scuderia" or car stable you were racing with.
I hvae no problem with whatever anyone wants to do with their car. I might disagree, but what will that change??? More important things to worry about!

Thank you for pointing that out I have resolved that issue by having a fantastic set made to my personal spec and input by the talented manufacturer shipped to me perhaps I can introduce you to the company.

After market shields are a tad hokey to purists but for a newer F-owner they won't really care. Shields seem to make a big difference for resale. Just ask a certain dealer in Newport Beach that's had a shieldless 430 in their showroom for well over a year AFAIK.

 

In addition to the factory shields being indented into the fenders there is a color missing around the outside edge. I suspect they are doing it to avoid copyright issues with Ferrari who probably protects the symbols with great lust as they should.

I bought factory but frankly they look very good in my view. Most people would not know the difference. If you put them on some Ferrari person will mention it in case you were unaware.

Not sure that's a good idea, beating in a recess on a curved alloy wing to the precision of pressed OEM recess then re paint .. good luck hope it turns out well for your sake

 

Would you mind posting a link to the seller (if they have more) or posting a few pictures of your shields? How much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?

I have compaired good aftermarket shields with the originals (in a dealership) and there were no differences at all. Would you care to post pictures to show what you mean?

A skilled panel beater can do this perfectly, in fact the first time I arranged for it to be done the PB laughed because the way I had described the job he had assumed that it would be a major task.

 

Personally the only way I would suggest adding these after the fact is as per the factory. Premier Motorsport in Culver City, CA is a factory approved collision shop that does just that. The fenders are debossed, factory shields are applied and fenders resprayed.

As discussed before, the shields were originally add ons to denote that the car part took in a racing series.

Nowadays shields are just used to highlight the fact that it indeed is a ferrari.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't buy a ferrari without them.

There are plenty of shops that recess the fender and fit the shield in, making it look identical to a factory option. Some even order factory panels with the impression and then fit factory shields thus making it an authentic aftermarket factory option (paradox/ oxymoron?????). Either way, I hear its quite pricey.

The first pic on the black 360 is factory, the next pic are Ricambi shields I added. Hope this helps, I will try and take better comparison photos today.

By the way, the Ricambi shields are at the same heigth on the fender as the originals. Whats missing is the embosing around the edge, not noticeable from a distances.

i think it doesnt matter. I just bought a 360 without shields. I will add em later if i wanted to. I dont have to make sure that people really know that it is indeed a Ferrari.

The shields on the yellow 360 actually look great.

Yes slightly, but the material is better. Anti-skid material on the bottom as well.

Quality is outstanding and this fact is continuously confirmed by my customers.

 

I AM NEXT IN LINE TO ORDER CARPETS AS WELL.
