The first versions were the ts and tb, with the difference being the ts has a removable roof section (targa top) and the tb is a fixed roof. The GTB / GTS are similar but started production in 1993 and have a less restrictive exhaust as well as a slightly wider rear track (about an extra inch of wheel offset) as well as color matched lower body panels and spoilers. The earliest cars have a roof mounted radio antenna and manual seatbelts, while the cars from 1990 on have a windshield antenna and automatic belts. The 348 spider started production in 1994 and also featured the same track / body color panel improvements that the GTS / GTb had. The newer models have a slight horsepower increase due to different exhaust and possibly from the different engine management (early cars have Motronic 2.5, later cars have Motronic 2.7). NoDoubt has a home page with lots of 348 info.

Oh, and the difference between the 348 and other Ferrari models is that prior V8 models (308 / 328) generally are a little slower but easier and cheaper to maintain, while the newer models (355 / 360, etc..) are faster, more expensive to buy, and generally the same or more expensive to maintain. You will find that here almost every owner is very happy with the model they have chosen for varying reasons, but you gotta love the look of the 348!

    Thanks,

Please clarify what you mena by newer models? IS 1992 consider older 348 model or is it considered newer?

    Thanks

Bill is correct in his message(s) above.

However, there is so much misinformation flying around Fchat sometimes, I would encourage you to begin your research here:

There is some serial number that people consider being the mark of whether a 348 is 'older' or 'newer'. 1992 would probably be considered a 'newer' model. I have an 'older' 348 (NNO tells me it is around #35 out of 7,000+ produced from the total production run), and it is great. It has had regular service and problems that have occured have been taken care of and not ignored which is what you should look for in any year 348. The QV500 site is a good source of info.
