    Hi !

Some questions from a 328 GTS Rookie:
I often read about the 328 GTS as US / Swiss / Euro Version. Can someone explain me the differences in terms of

    1. Car body
    2. Engine
    3. Implications on repair
    4. Parts cross reference list

I think I have the Swiss 328 GTS version (with Catalyst) but it could be as well the US version? Can I see it in the VIN number?

    Thx,

    STC

    Go here:

    http://www.red-headed.com/index2.html

and click on "Articles" on the left and then "Decoding the VIN" at the bottom of the page -- should give you the market and version of your 328.

For the "differences" go to the Owners Site (www.owners.ferrari.com) and download the US version 328 OM and the Suisse version 328 OM (although I think they are very minor for the cat-equipped Suisse 328 -- slightly different gear ratios, slightly different ignition ECU mapping, etc.). From the Owners Site you can also get to the FerrariUK spare parts site and view the 328 Spare Parts Catalogue to see which parts are Suisse specific.

Cinquevalvole knows all the differences, but off the top of my head I think the Swiss version has a different exhaust system and a some suspension changes compared to the UK and US versions.

Cosmetically the main difference is in the rear skirt. A cooling slot below the numebr plate and I think one more layer of slats between the two exhausts. Down side is 10-15 bhp less than the euro version. But you only notice this about 240kph.

The only implications for repair are be sure you quote the right version/serial number when ordering parts. Parts for my CH version cost the same as euro or US specific parts.
