I couldn't help but to have my attention grabbed when I saw the preview of the Ferrari F40 fix on the TV show "Fast and Loud." I love how they made it so sleek. Those tires are something else! I read online that it sold for over $740k. I bet Richard Rollins was happy.

I completely understand that. Everyone has their favorites. I read it on Motorauthority.com. I know I have it bookmarked somewhere on this ragged laptop of mine. If links are allowed, I'd be happy to post it for you.

Watched the multi-part "F&L" episodes featuring the F40 project.

Seems to me, Richard Rawlings got in a bit over his head on the restoration and his buddy
Dennis came in and bailed him out. Then, Dennis bought the car outright and subsequently
it went through the Barrett-Jackson (who else?) auction at Scottsdale where it was purchased
by Reggie Jackson for $675K plus the juice which may have ended up being a loss for Dennis.

Say what you will about the restoration (I was having a lot of good laughs about it with
my restoration specialist during the episodes), they inherited a bit of a mess especially with
    the bent frame.

They modernized a few things and brought the car back to life so it can't be all bad. It won't
ever be worth what an all original F40 would bring but so what? The attention that Gas Monkey
Garage got out of those episodes was likely far beyond anything they've done before
or since and the whole process was interesting to watch.

Edit, found a link on Jalopnik:
    http://jalopnik.com/gas-monkeys-born-again-ferrari-f40-sells-for-750k-1505245688

And, a heads up, this thread may get moved to the 288GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, LF section. Don't
    be surprised.

Saw it and liked it. Maybe twice including the original air. Never seems to be on again when there are repeats. ;)

I believe this was posted on Fchat some time ago. An Fchat member was familiar with the project and sold the clown patrol some of the repair parts. The entire "story" was made up(purchase price, how it was repaired and by whom, it was always "pre-sold" and the GM crew had zero risk or exposure on the project).

There was an extensive thread here on that subject and after careful , measured , observations from countless esteemed members of this forum rendered the repair a HACK JOB at best . Don't recall if any F 40 owners weighed in on it.

The F40 and the Ford GT are two cars that should have had the Classiche restoration performed. Gas Monkey is about flipping cars...nothing more. They did save both cars so they do deserve some credit for that I guess.

I believe this...there is less reality in "reality" TV than there is in most sitcoms.

All of these restoration reality shows boggle my mind. They invariably do quick/half-baked work because they are on a very limited timetable/budget. They then turn around and sell the thing for top dollar to some seemingly unsuspecting buyer. I wonder how the buyers feel when they later see the episode of the resto of their car and see the way it was shoddily slapped together. If I'm paying top dollar for a restoration I want it done right. Although, i'm sure most of it is BS anyway simply to create fake drama(i.e. very little "reality" going on).

Those of us that knew the car, and knew there WERE people available to fix it properly, just shook our heads..

The car was crashed in Houston, Ferrari of Houston was the place to fix it, but instead it goes on TV, and becomes 'famous'.

As the cars move up in value, that was a shame and permanently (well, at least until reworked) devalued that car.

    FWIW.

I have to say I cringed at the thought of them "restoring" that car. I have always wanted to talk to someone who bought a car done by GM to see what they thought when they started to really look at what they had bought.

love the show. would never buy a real car from them.

SOME of their work is good, but some of it is pretty shoddy.

the f40 work was pretty bad, but at least they rehabbed the car and it is rolling again. somebody is happy, nobody is unhappy, and thats a good thing.

Restoration shows are pretty bad in their work, but are fun to watch. I remember a few years ago Chip Foose was selling a car at BJ Scottsdale. He was over herd telling the bidder no don't worry this isn't an Overhaulin crap car.

I sold them some parts to that black F40 repair, they are both super nice guys and they REALLY love Ferraris. Especially Dennis.

No problem at all with modded F40's but that was a hatchet job. Hard to watch. The whole financial 'stress' was like a bad soap opera to. Give the audience some credit FFS. Moving the gearbox mounts to fit? Really?

Everyone is a critic or an expert.

Perhaps everyone should post a picture of the F40 in their garage.

I have seen the car at Toys for Tots event and it is far and away the most popular car there.

Maybe not perfect but lighten up !
