Did 430s come with a battery charger/tender from the factory? I am about to purchase a 2008 430 and it is missing the battery charger/tender. How much are they to replace? Also, it is missing the CD magazine that holds 6 CDs. Anyone know where to replace that and are they generic?
    Thank you, in advance.

I think the factory charger is about $400 - a total ripoff (like everything else Ferrari). Mine came without it, bought a CTEK and attached the pigtails. I then bought a brand new one off Craigslist for $200 just to have a "complete" set of tools, manuals etc for the next guy. But the CTEK I bought is a more "advanced" version of the OEM one so I won't be using the branded Ferrari charger.

Does the factory battery tender plug into the lower dash on a 430 like on a 458? I can't get any information whatsoever...
Does anyone have an actual picture of the lower dash receiver where the battery tender plugs into on a 430?

Hi, the plug on my 08 car is under the passenger (UK Car) side of the dash up against the wheel arch, pretty awkward to get to!

My 2006 F430 has a Ferrari charger that is OEM, but based on the install it was added at the dealer. So likely not an "option" but more of an item added on delivery.

My 430 did not have the factory charging port on the underside of the passenger foot area closest to the door, but I have seen images of such a connector on some 430s.

I recommend the CTEK 4.3 units. I have a DIY if you want to install it yourself.

*some people install the pigtail behind the passenger seat for easier access. I might move mine there as well, less bending over.

Early F430s were available with an optional Zivan charger (~$900), while later models (08s, at least) came with a standard CTEK charger/tender. The Zivans were large, relatively unreliable, and came in a Schedoni leather case. The standard CTEKs came in a red nylon bag. Both had special wiring harnesses on the car and special connectors for the harnesses.

Mine came with the CD changer, but I'll need to look at it to see if its "generic". I have never used it--I suppose to busy listening to the 8cylinder music......

Your '08 should have a factory charger receptacle in the passenger footwell. I suggest doing it right and using the factory plug.

Buy a Ctek charger for $50 such as this equivalent to the Ferrari factory charger: CTEK 800
(Or you can spend more and get a more powerful Ctek if you need to do more than battery maintenance)

Go to http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=92820b6404 and order the following connector parts:
    3 each 649-SC16M11S6 PINS
    1 each 649-MBG4P1 PLUG
    1 each 649-MBG4S1 STRAIN RELIEF

    Read this: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141102598-post12.html
Follow Warren's wiring instruction and for less than $100 you will have the equivalent of the factory charger.

    Guys

My UK 2005 430 didn't come with a factory fit charger as there was no wired in connector. I kept an eye on ebay and got a Ferrari branded CTEC which came complete with two types of plug and old fashioned croc clips etc.....and of course the yellow branded box which trebles the cost of anything !!!

I connected on of the preconnected plugs to the battery and just left the plug end above the passenger foot rest.
This has given me an "Official Ferrari" charger, and CTEC so its a better design. I think this is the way to go and from memory it only cost me about £60. The only thing I don't have is a red bag to put this in.

Yep! Have to be a bit of a contortionist to get to it as you need both hands to plug it in. So much easier on my old 355 as it was accessible in the front trunk.

My issue with the Save A Battery (1702) besides the silly name, is the fact it does not condition the battery. Our batteries don't like a constant charge nor do they like to be left idle. Charging when the voltage drops below x.x is not conditioning. The nicer CTEK units actually simulate driving cycles to keep the battery charged and extend the batteries life. Some CTEKs even have desulphation cycles. I have not lost a single battery since outfitting all of my non-DDs with the CTEK 4.3 and CTEK 3300's. The batteries will eventually need to be replaced even with conditioning, I realize this.

I do like the voltmeter display on the Save A Battery, because I am a nerd and all.
