Ok, there actually is an Italian tie-in, if you know the history. I was thinking that a very cheap running Yugo might be a fun thing to tear apart and play with. I'm talking pocket-change territory. Anyone know of a running Yugo with a title for sale on the cheap? Thanks T
look on www.autosupermarket.it it is an italian web site for used cars and maybe you can find a great yugo y45!! Good luck
I want a funny stock cheap novelty car. I was thinking of buying in Europe, a really nice condition E. German Trabant. That would be fun to cruise in. They were all over Budapest. I do not think it is too much trouble to bring in after it is 25 years old. Rust is probably the biggest problem.
have you seen a certain video on the net where a polish yugo/zastava was modified to have dual steering (with dual steering wheels). The car goes backwards and forwards equally well so it looks bizarre when on roads.
You would have a tough time getting a Trabant in to the US (not saying it can't be done but it is hard) Emissions are dreadful (2 stroke) and the paint is so full of lead it qualifies for being a toxic waste dump...
tillman I thought this would be more along the lines of what you were after These are our famous good to very good condition quality Yugoslavian SKS rifles. May have cosmic grease coating. C&R/FFL license required! Since no ocean freight carrier will accept firearms nor ammunition through the Mediterranean, we had to fly them in. We apologize for the price increase. RIFLES ARE NOW IN STOCK AND READY FOR DELIVERY! External condition is good to very good with good to very good bores. . Serial numbers may or may not not match or may be force matched. We can hand pick for an additional $15.00 Image Unavailable, Please Login

I worked at a high end multi line car dealership in the late 80's and early 90's when the Yugo was selling new here in the US. They advertised "Buy one, get one free" for their new Cadillac sales. If you bought a Cadillac you got a free Yugo with it. It wasn't as good as the free Ping golf club promo but it worked. The dealership told us that a Yugo was basically an old Fiat built by the Czech's. Not sure if it was true or not. I can tell you that the cars that were sold and not given away were nearly all returned to the dealer under the Lemon Law and they dropped the line shortly there after.
Yugo is a FIAT 128. The yugoslavians purchased all the tool & dye from FIAT. The parts are interchangable for the most part. There is a very active Yugo race scene in California also in the NorthEast. I would talk to Orion and see if they have anything. If not log onto http://www.mirafiori.com/ and ask who has Yugos for sale. You should be able to find one for a reasonable price. Who knows maybe you can find one of them that was featured on Drowning Mona http://www.imagesjournal.com/issue09/reviews/drowningmona/text.htm
Nope, at best it was 127 based, but not 128. See pics 127, then pair of 128's then a 126. Rather have a 128 than a Yugo or 127 any day. 126 was Topolino equivalent, cruder than 127, but more fun to drive. Rear engine. 128 was an OK car, they just rusted like old Fiats. Ralph, Trabbi bodies don't rust, they are a weird synthetic. Chassis do rust, but bodies only seem to get mossy or tear. The Yugo 45 called as Yugo Koral (in the European markets), the Zastava GTL (the Fiat 128 clone) named to Yugo Skala. In 1988 the new Yugo model was shown, called Florida (Sana in some countries). It's exterior designed by Giorgetto Giorgiaro, its shape similar to Fiat Tipo. These cars were exported mainly the eastern European countries, because Yugos are cheap cars, but less were exported to western European countries and the USA. From: http://www.inet.hr/~bpauric/epov.htm
Styled by Zastava, it was called the Yugo 45, and it was related to the Fiat 127, but different in appearance. Examples were made with the 903cc, 1100cc, and 1300cc engines. The 1100cc and the 1300cc versions were sold in the USA as the Yugo GV, GVL, GVS, GVX, GV Plus, and the Cabrio. Source: ibid, one line up In the 1981, the Zastava launches the Yugo "Koral" (or simply "Yugo"), a totally new model, first car totally designed by the Yugoslavian factory. It's a compact (but very "square"...) city-car, powered by Fiat engines: 900 cc side camshaft with 45 hp (the same of the Fiat "127", that give also the platform), for the Yugo "45", and SOHC 1100-1300 taken from the "Skala"/Fiat 128 (55 and 65 hp) for the Yugo "55" and "65". The "Yugo" name was used as official export brand since the '80s; the car was sold in Italy with the Innocenti brand, and was called "Tempo" in the UK. Hey Nicola! Wecome to Ferrarichat. Glad to see you here, sorry I missed your F1 watching party. Let me know if you plan on having another. Will
Are you just doing this so you can put a bumper sticker on the Yugo that says, "My other car is a Ferrari" ????
Funnier to put "my other car is a Yugo" license frame on the F-car. I still have no idea why I know Yugo trivia, but it gave me a chance to post the Trabbi...
Maybe both the blonde and a yugo. Hey Will, Yea, I'll have another little get together to watch the Brailian GP. -Nicola
