Is there a list somewhere of all 308 OEM leather options with colour codes, preferably together with images?

The original shade I see under the bolster is nowhere near as light as crema and is not as dark as tan. What exactly was the range available back in 1980?

I tried searching for a while and turned up nothing.

    Paul,

According to what I have, and leaving aside possible "factory specials"...

    Only six colors for Leather:
    Grigio: VM 3393
    Nero: VM 8500
Beige: VM 4208 (called "tan" usually)
    Crema: VM 3997
    Rosso: VM 3171
    Blu: VM 3282

    For carpets:
    Nero: 80
    Rosso: 81
    Testa di moro: 83
    Blu: 84
    Brusciato: 85

Should anyone knows better, I would be glad to hear (or read)...

Thank you nerofer. I'm wondering how my OEM leather could be tan. It is not dark enough (I think). I saw a TR in tan last week. By this time, did they have another deeper, more "orange" tan?

    Paul,

As far as I know, VM 3218 was common to 308s and 328s; VM 4208 took place of VM 3218 with the late production 328s, from c/n 7966X onwards (about december 1988) but it means a different leather quality, not a different color.
My '89 GTB, c/n 81085, has VM 4208; but its "beige" is not different in color from older cars. In the case of my car, it has a very oh-so-slight "mustard" tone, but other cars have this as well.
As far as i know, the "beige" has been fairly constant during the eighties and the nineties; you will indeed find variation in tone or color of the same leather in two or three cars produced the same week; leather hides are rarely identical. What is true is that "beige" leather in Ferrari is usually strong in tone, it can't be confused with "Crema".

According to this service bulletin, there is a difference in colour and tone:

    http://ferrari.cdyn.com/service_bulletins/sb00-32.pdf

You are of course quite right that each hide can be thought as unique, but the bulletin seems to indicate the change was to do with colour depth and was more substantial than within the limits of normal hide to hide variations.

    Paul,

Obviously there must be a difference in color and tone, as the bulletin says so, but it doesn't seem obvious to me when I see cars in the "older" leather spec...
Perhaps you could try to find the small OEM "folder" of 6 leather samples that the dealers had in the day, some do actually pop-up from time to time on E-Bay, but how well the color is still matched to what it had be thirty years ago is anybody's guess...

If not exposed to the sun, colours should be very accurate. I've been told that even within the car, the hidden leather behind pockets and underneath or deep within seams should reflect the 30 year old colouring very well.
