I got two so far this year. I have two big bucks I am watching right now and also got my IN license for Archery. I know Gerswhin got a nice buck on his farm. First year I processed all my deer on my own so far. saved myself $200 bucks plus allot of drive time. I like it. It's fun and a good time to bond with my brothers who help out. What about you? I know rut season is on us.

I got one around Hovey Lake. Nothing special, though. Haven't heard of any monsters around here this year.

I've got a doe that keeps eating the mushrooms growing in my soggy background. Think I'll wait for it one night and bag it.

Raining hard today and very windy. Would be a good day to duck hunt in Arkanas. No word from my deer hunting parter in the woods today...

Watch that doe Kyle, the time is right for a buck to be trailing her.

Pic I just took at the West Virginia Cabela's Whitetail Hall:

Yeah, the season is upon us for that.

The Mississippi Delta is prime water fowl hunting right now, all the crops that were abandoned due to flooding. Arkansas rice fields are getting that way now I hear.

I went out this morning and snuck up on two turkeys! My range finder is acting up and missed both time with my bow. 40 yard is really 30 yards. I need to get this thing fixed. Pretty pissed about it but oh well. Shotgun is in but really want to nail one with an arrow.

I'm mainly just a duck hunter, regular season starts tomorrow morning. I will try deer for the first time this year, darn expensive here in Texas, might just get an Axis as cheap and they are bigger.

A good tip before getting in your stand tie a couple of limbs w/ orange marking tap from the base of your tree to give you an idea of 20,30,40 from your stand location and then add for how ever many feet your up. Obviously this works best for hunting forest topo.

Would you believe it I'm working on creating a scaled down version of an exhibit like that for my barn. Something a bit closer to what is @ Bass Pro Shop above the gun department, more lineal.

White tail will drive a man crazy....

    Thanks Bill. I was happy.
As I told the DNR inspector today, "I got him right over the city limit line."
(I just didn't tell him which side of the line.) lol

The area is about 15 -20 minutes north of GR and it is private farm land / swamp bottom / hardwoods along the Rogue River.
My scouting camera shows 3 other bigger ones, so with luck, I will post again!

I have found a guy trespassing and poaching on our private land twice now.
The first time I found his tree stand he was there, pushing a wheelbarrow full of bait to add to his pile. (illegal in MI)
He freaked out and swore he would never come back. I let him keep his stand and escorted him and the wheelbarrow off the property, taking pictures the entire time.
Today, two weeks later I found a new tree stand on the property and saw his vehicle parked in a sneaky out of the way spot.
I called in some help and we walked the property trying to find him.
He heard us coming and ran so we never actually saw him the second time. While he was running he ditched all his gear, which I found and confiscated.
I now have his bow, a stand, his backpack with all his gear etc, including his hunting license. I went through the pack later on and found a bag of dope and a big squirt bottle of rum and coke.
I was able to track down his name, where he lives, drove by his house (car is there) and found his facebook account also.
I left a business card with my name and number in his car window, but he hasn't called me yet. He may or may not know it was me that has his stuff.
I don't really want a drunk stoner with a weapon pissed off at me.

What would you guys do? Call the cops, go to his house, etc.

umm, Game Warden? In Texas we have a program called Operation Game Thief with 800 number and someone on call 24/7. You would rather mess with a South Dallas cop than a Game Warden, especially the Federal ones. They'll take everything on you, your vehicle, and you'll end up with a 5 digit fine on top of it.

Tonight I did speak with a friend who is a Sheriff. He seemed quite blase about the whole thing unfortunately.
He said that most likely the guy will deny the dope was his, and they will only be able to give him a warning for trespassing.

It doesn't sound bad enough for all the trouble he has caused....

In Indiana, the DNR officers would take this pretty seriously. I don't know about your regular sheriff, but I'd still call the game warden about this.

And even if it does just result in the guy getting a warning, the warning from you obviously did not keep him off your lsnd, maybe a law enforcement warning would be a better deterrent.

Indiana DNR has been known to be ruthless, especially if he were to be a repeat offender. Definitely call game warden

Did you smoke the rest of his dope to show him and drink the rest of his rum and coke? LOL! Just kidding!

My opinion is that nothing will or can be done about it unless the Conservation Officer catches him. I would not approach him because then you are the one trespassing on his property. I have brother who knows idiots like him and they have a mentality of an eye for an eye. If they got nothing to lose then it's one of those situations of watch your back. No one likes that. I would report to fish and game or local authorities. Let them deal with it, but I am sure that guy is not coming back after being caught the 2nd time and running off. This may sound crazy but I would hand over the property to the local fish and game and if you do get a call from this guy tell him fish and game has it and he will need to seek them out.

Another thing you can do is put up trail cameras high in the trees to take pictures of this person trespassing. I had to do this with items of mine being stolen by a neighbor that didn't like me hunting near his part of the forrest. I was on my part and he come over to my side and took things. The camera is high enough where he can not get it or even knows it's there. Ever since he has not touched any of my stuff, but that might have been because he saw me taking my assault rifle out there and thought "damn North Koreans are going to kill me".
