This is a hard one to figure out, four time previous winner, made it around last turn and crashes on straight run towards the Finish Line.

    RIP...:/

    A dip in the road?
    That's rather hard to believe....

Something broke, at the very end of his run?

Does anyone have any info, other than the normal news leads??

He was posting event recaps throughout the week on Youtube....

Dunne was the last bike of the event to go, as he was fastest qualifier. Nothing has been confirmed, but it was reported that he was ahead of record pace for sections 1, 2 and 3, but never made it through check point 4 (finish) crashing shortly (some have said yards before the finish) before it, with bits and pieces of bike going over the edge.

    Thanks, Ney,
I have a friend who has run it in her WRX, and won Class..

Agree he was on a flyer, but it just seems so odd that on the last straight part,(?) it would all go terribly wrong.
I have watched all the main media, and there's thin detail, nor an eye witness account.

You see the MotoGP guys lift a wheelie at the Finish Line, but Pike's Peak is no place, for that type of nonsense!

Plus, by all accounts we lost a serious, but low key and good natured guy.
One interview, he recounted swerving around a BEAR in the course (previous year!)....

I guess it's my own recent event that brings it so close to home.
    Crashing hurts....a lot.

Some unkind comments about "his age", by young whippersnappers!

But even in that clip you posted, some minor thing that a valve stem core loosening, at that speed would be "it"...also noted is the ^%$&^%$ ton of electronics on these bikes, and the effect they have on dynamics.

    Godspeed, young man.

Thanks for posting. It is so unbelievably sad that we lost such a great passionate man.

That was just a beautiful day....he was a beautiful guy...thanks everyone that has brought something to the thread.

Houston DOC had a member there.
Doesn't change anything, but at least we had reps!!!
