I've been watching DDE for a little bit now and paying more attention when they twin turboed a F12. Now they're turning it into a race car and completely stripped the car. After watching the latest video of them dropping the motor out and pulling the wiring harness, I have realized that DIY on the F12 is far beyond my abilities and will not even contemplate doing any work myself. Check it out.
I'm watching it now. It's actually fascinating. Many people hate on DDE, but this sort of content is not for their typical viewer who only wants to see flames and burnouts.
I spent a winter detailing the underbody of the F12 and stay in amazement with all the custom fabricated parts that were made to fit exactly in a special spot and perform their function. What the video above doesn't show is the fully connected drivetrain from beneath the car. It is literally a chassis built around that drivetrain. No chance I could debug a failure of most of those electronically controlled systems. As long as I maintain the warranty I won't try to even understand how it all works.
Watch all the videos in the F12 series. They pull the transaxle, driveshaft and the flywheel. It’s crazy to see how the car is packaged. Almost makes me feel that the prices mechanics charge for working on the F12 is reasonable…almost.
latest instalment, where they are taking apart the f12 engine, is just superb, well worth a watch if you're interested in this kind of thing (title is clickbait, there's no "flaw", you can ignore that)
