Sad but we had a great run. We could have rain and some warm weather again though...fingers crossed! LSJ
So sad. Got our Fcars out this week in advance of the salt invasion. Pray for a warm February with lots of rain... Lucky to get to late January before the invasion - old gal at the local Giant today asked, "are the Russians coming?"
Are the northern counties treating the roads with liquid brine in advance of the snow, or is it their practice to lay down granular salt in advance of the snow and/or when it snows?
Got one of the cars out this past weekend. Its been an extended driving season for us in Southern Maryland. Probably only two months til we can drive again
What are road conditions like? Just wondering because some of the backroads looked very good this week. We may have mid 50s on Sunday...could be good for a drive. LSJ
Roads in southern Montgomery County and Northern PG are looking quite good... I think we may be back in business for the weekend! LSJ
Howard County is salt free from all the rain yesterday. FoW/LoW are having their monthly C&C this Saturday. https://www.facebook.com/LamborghiniofWashington/photos/a.352000934868341.77200.351991801535921/951244451610650/?type=3
I took a nice long ride over the weekend and northern Baltimore looks pretty good. I wouldn't hesitate in hitting the backroads there. Montgomery County and Howard looked spotless. The driving season is back on! LSJ
Roads were clear last weekend thanks to all the rain....took the 930 out for a blast...earliest spring ride I ever took. Drove home today streets are white in southern md So much for an early spring. Hopefully we get a good rain soon so I can start using the toys again
I was so excited that our "off season" was barely 5 weeks and now this... And, we'll be in the 70s next week but will still have salt on the ground. Let's pray for rain! LSJ
Amen! I need to get my car from Sterling back to Rockville, tomorrow if possible, and it is not looking good!
It's raining, albeit just a slight sprinkle, here in DC. And we had some rain last night, but not nearly enough to wash the salt away. This afternoon, down Wisconsin, cars were kicking up salt dust so bad you could taste it.
Not in NW, roads are clean and mostly dry. There was one patch of salt in the middle of Conn, near the zoo, but I think it was spilled and just too big to get washed away.
Last night's rain / snow was remarkably effective at cleaning up the roads in Montgomery County! Just a pile of salt and sand here or there where a truck stopped, and bits of dirt by the side of the road where it got piled up. I'm thinking we should be pretty good soon, though!
Agreed! Roads look remarkably good. I would drive now if I really needed to. One more rain event and conditions should be perfect. LSJ
