dB Level of F40/F50?

It has to be a reasonable level, could it be around 90 - 100 on throttle?

 

In the F50 it is extremely loud due to the chain drive from the motor being right behind your head. If you can think of an easy method to measure this, I would be happy to do it. Otherwise I can probably make a video on my camera phone at some point. The F40 is definitely quieter. The F50 I have experience with has an open exhaust (Tubi) and is probably much louder than a standard F50 especially at speed. It shoots some cool little blue flames. The F50 is much higher pitched and pronounced than the F40 regardless of exhaust. The F40 makes a bassy drone by comparison to the F50's high-pitched racket.

 

Pretty much echo what Richard said. My standard F50 is very loud in the cabin, especially as it has the hardtop fitted all the time. Any conversation with a passenger requires raised voices at all revs.
Having full Tubi system fitted and I don't expect that it will be any quieter afterwards....

I had my F40's sound level checked last month. It measured 118db at 3/4 or max revs. It runs a sports exhaust and is very loud.

 

How close to the car was that measurement taken? A 360 Michelotto with the straight through exhaust option i.e. no mufflers/cats is rated at 120dB
That is seriously ear splittingly loud

 

Well for every 3dB gain the actual intensity doubles.
I think F1 cars run at around 150dB. Space shuttle launch
is 200dB at 50m!! :O

Anyone have sound clips of an F50? I've unfortunately never seen one in person or heard one. It's my favorite Ferrari still though.

I have a Db meter if anybody in SE michigan wants to test (we use it to measure the white noise levels in factories, and offices and such)

 

futureowner: i believe that F50 is one of the best (if not THE BEST) sounding cars EVER.

I will remember forever the sound of the F50 (with MS Racing Exhaust) in the Best Motoring's Super Battle in Suzuka 2000...incredible sound,really!

That F50 Tubi video clip is amazing and I guess is the reason why I got a set.
They came from Manu at Scuderia systems in England (site sponser). Nice guy and good to deal with too.

This F50 (after the AMV8) is pretty mean sounding, would yours sound like this?
Sounds different to the Scuderia System's.

 

Hard to tell from that video as there is a lot of echo/reverberation from buildings etc.

The car is getting some further cosmetic rejuvenation, nothing major.

 

Here i have uploaded the 400 meters tests from Best Motoring Super Battle In Suzuka 2000,with F50,F40,Diablo SV,and 996 Gt2.

The F50 has the MS Racing Exhaust...like i said in a previous post in this thread,i think that she ) ) is the best sounding car EVER.

Yeah I saw that a while ago. Amazing sound!

That F50 was awfully fast though, it pulled an 11.1sec 0-400m! Didn't
know it accelerated that hard.
