Looking for confirmation on the correct dashboard toggle switch labelling for my September '71 Daytona. Early plexi cars had a label panel under the toggle switches (1st photo). Later cars simply have small tags on each toggle switch (2nd photo, '72 UK car). When did this change happen and was there a transition period where a flat (rather than recessed) label plate was used? Any photos of '71 dashboard's would be appreciated, particularly RHD UK cars. Hi Ian, There is actually a third switch design in between the two you illustrated. I've attached a picture of my car's switch arrangement: UK RHD, completed 10th February 1971, S/N 14121, assembly sequence #447. It's a flat plate glued to the mousehair. Hope that helps. thanks David. I'm 14397, I think they'd transitioned to the small tags by then. What is the switch at the far right? Radio antenna?
With all due respect, probably more like berlinetta four, spider three as latter has no rear glass defroster.
I didn't kill myself to go back a few weeks in the posts, but I thought we'd talked about this in August. So there maybe more info available. Here's a photo from my LHD/American Daytona. Car #14599, delivered in Dec of '71. steve meltzer "unencumbered by the thought process" Image Unavailable, Please Login
thanks Steve, sorry - I should have searched first. Your picture confirms that my car #14397 is correct with the tags. Ian
The first three USA Daytona Spyders were delivered with no tags at all.... Probably due to the unique three switch set-up. I think this likely forced the change to individual switch tags in the second half of '71.
Hi Ian, No sweat...wasn't trying to be critical or catty. Your car and mine aren't too far apart. Glad you got it sorted out. steve
I don't think they are original, there are two of them and neither are connected to anything (no wires behind). I would imagine they would have been for front spotlights or foglights? Maybe fitted by Maranello Concessionaires (?) they are of the same type to the other toggle switches. Who knows. It's kind of frustrating that they weren't removed when the car was restored and the dashboard was re-covered. DG
Here is 14097, US Coupe. Ian, the right switch is labeled "E"...for Emergency (flashers), I assume, as it's not in the owners manual. Dogdish Image Unavailable, Please Login
I finally found an in-period photo of my car and indeed it had the glued on strip. The small tags were most likely initially used for spyders because they only had 3 switches.
