My Daytona wind-screen/shield wipers occassionally meet and lock together, yes I drive it in the rain sometimes - I live in Scotland after all, and one gets caught out occasionally.

Anyone experienced this? What's the fix?

    Thanks,

    David

Not trying to be sarcastic, but most likely just adjustment. Slight relocation of wiper arms on pivot shafts usually cures this. Tiny clip under the pivot end of the arm, slightly pry it with a small screw-driver or hook toward the blade, pull the arm up, change the angle of the arm a bit and push it back down. Further apart the blades are from each other, less likely to get caught. Try wipers and repeat adjustments if needed and/or acceptable compromise found, after which the blades/arms may be in your field of view and then it becomes apparent why so many owners just remove them altogether.

the wipers locking together in my car was a precursor of the wiper-parking mechanism failing. Its a molded nylon thingy that fits into the (SMITHS) wiper motor and makes the wipers do their little dance before they park. When it fails completely, the wipers stay permanently on, you have to change the wiring to the wiper motor to get around this.

After scouring the world to find a NOS mechanism, my wipers now park perfectly and don't touch each other, whilst being out of the way for dry driving.

It doesn't help the parts problem btw that there are different wiper motors with different parking switches.
