Next week I hope to collect my new toy: 308 GTBQV (UK spec)! With modern cars lit up like Christmas trees, experience shows other drivers don’t see low slung cars (despite it being “very red” according to my wife).
I’m hoping the flash to pass/fog lights have the fog light facility and intend to fit LED bulbs to reduce the load (fuse box has been changed). In addition led stop/tail and possibly a high level brake light inside the cabin against the rear glass. It must all look “discreet “!

Have others done this? Insights? (Searching produced mostly very old threads)
    Thanks

Welcome to Fchat and congratulations on your purchase the great Ferrari 308 !
Post up some pics when you have possession

I replaced my tail lights with LEDs. They are much brighter. However, make sure you purchase red bulbs, because the clear ones will wash out the red tail light lens to a pinkish colour.
I'm not sure if placing a high level brake light has ever been discussed here before. There should be room on the interior rear deck to mount one. It may be a challenge to run the wiring though.

Oh yea, don't buy the cheap crappy ones from China. They don't fit tight enough in the sockets and make poor connections.

    Very nice.
Just an FYI. The air vents on the bonnet should be black on a QV.

I think you meant "were originally" black on a QV. They "should be" whatever the owner wants them to be.

Didn’t know that so I looked at pics of other cars. Definitely prefer it body colour!

Energy 88 -thanks for the el Camino link. I’ve found neat “strips” of leds (I have one for the MGB) Most need attaching externally. I’m thinking of a smal bracket at each end and either double sided tape or button magnets to fit on the rear screen. On the MGB the light sits in a slotted bracket as it has to be removed to fold the hood (ragtop) down. The bracket is thin board so it snaps rather than light when I forget…

Euro spec models the vents are painted body color.

US spec examples are black anodized.

    Not necessarily...

This is correct - Euro QVs had almost exclusively body coloured vents on the hood/bonnet, while US cars were almost all black anodized vent panels. Only a very few Euro QVs had black anodized vents, mine is one of those.

My 208;has the identical harness of the 308 s .So a front fog switch and redundant connections under the bumper.208 s didn’t have front fogs .
So I used this ready made circuitry and simply fitted a couple of E bay LEDs .Plug n play .
You might re configure your existing front fogs = fit eq LED s ?? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Agree in the U.K. theses day you do feel rather naked without DRL s

Been looking to modify the "flash to pass" as a running light. Lets face it, a lot of drivers today would not even know what the flashing light mean.

Tbh, this all sounds like overkill to me (better to be safe than sorry I guess, but not totally needed really)

I drove my previous 348 TS without lights on in the daytime in the UK, and I currently drive my 328 GTS in the day time without any lights on, without extra bright LED bulbs front or rear, and without a third brake light, and I have had zero issues with people not seeing the car (no cars pulling out on me, not seeing me braking, or cutting me up)

Last year alone I put 6,000 miles on my 328, and the only issue I had was di*kheads in other cars, c*mming in their pants at seeing a Ferrari on the road, and suddenly developing a bizarre, desperate need to prove that their modern car is faster than a 34 year old Ferrari (I don't get involved with them - My car has nothing to prove to anyone)

Each to their own at the end of the day, but from experience of driving Ferrari's in the UK, having lights on in the daytime really isn't needed.

I just purchased all my Outside replacement lights from classicar leds in the UK. Make sure you purchase the relay with them so the flashing will be accurate for the LED’s. I posted a thread on it like two weeks ago. Others have done it as well.

Congrats on your new wheels and welcome to fchat.

That’s very interesting, I’m sure at build time, there was certain specific’s to follow, however I’m sure if the car was ordered buy the first buyer, there were many choices most were unaware of.

(I’m specifically thinking of the 308 with all the white accents and louver’s that was specially ordered).

Very cool either way you look at it that you have an original body colored grill vents US market car. Very special in my mind.

May not be relevant for UK version but on my US model I bought the Euro lenses with the white section then installed the brighter LED bulbs and did the diode mod to keep the headlight buckets down when in the parking light mode. So I can use them as DRL's the only difference being that my tail lights are on too. I'd also add that in this configuration there is a danger of forgetting to turn them off when you park. Ask me how I know...

    What’s the diode mod?

On my LBC I have a buzzer wired to the door courtesy light to indicate the headlights are on again with diodes in circuit. But the current involved is less than headlight motors!

There might be something here on current fchat but I got the instructions from this old page from way back - scroll down to post #213 (next to last) It's fairly simple to do or undo at any point.
