    Hello Everyone,

Please excuse if I have commented in the incorrect section. I am in the early stages of purchasing my first super car. I was fortunate enough growing up to be around allot of super car owners and when I was 15 I was apart of the Ferrari club, the members made me feel more than welcome and I was privileged to ride in a variety of models. At this stage I am watching the market for Ferrari and reading many reviews about the cars. The truth though is no matter how many reviews you read no matter what model of car someone has something bad to say about it and pick out its faults. What i am looking for is something that can be used as a daily driver, comfortable for long distance road trips and reliable. I know the world is now turning to hybrids but honestly I prefer the sound of internal combustion any day over electric. From owners experiences what would you suggest along the lines of ? I had looked along the lines of the P8 or the Portofino, basically I am looking from a owners point of view than someone in sales.

If you're considering a Portofino, look first at the F12. Try both. The F12 is so much more car for the money and meets your first two points perfectly. Reliability is solid, like most of the last two generations, but keep the CPO/power extended warranty. If you're up into the $300k+ range try an 812.

Unless you NEED a convertible, IMO the Portofino has a narrow market. If you drive no other Ferrari or modern Porsche, then the Portofino would be the best car you've ever driven. But if you try the V12 models or the 458/488/F8 line, then you'll likely prefer them as drivers. Kind of a hard thing to say for a wonderful, jack of all trades car. It's the internal med kid in a family of ortho and neurosurgeons, if that makes sense.

That said a 458 is a perfect start that is daily driveable and quite robust. Again, I recommend the warranty for possible DCT issues.

I pretty much daily drove my 458 and it gave me no problems at all. Smooth, comfortable, had plenty of frunk space for my suit, gym bag, briefcase, and groceries when needed on the way home. Only worry I had sometimes was parking lots and some of the more narrow parking spaces since the doors open super wide. Very reliable as well, changed the battery to an anti-gravity lithium and never had to worry about having low charge again.

Changed this year to an FF, and it's a similar story to the 458 but way more comfortable. Would highly recommend as well if you require the extra seats and trunk space, but yes warranty or proper service and repair records I feel would be key.

I daily a GTC4 Lusso and am really, really happy with it. It truly is the best 'daily' car I've ever owned.

I recently drove the Roma for a bit and have to say that as a daily driver this possibly makes even more sense (unless your regularly haul multiple kids). Fantastically usable as a daily car and still entertaining when you want to push it. I obviously don't want to swap the Lusso for it (V12 vs V8T) but if I didn't have it I may have bought the Roma.

I know people daily 458's and 488's and of course this is possible. They're not uncomfortable cars - however my experience is that they become tiring quite quickly on longer trips. I tried daily-ing a 911 GT3 at one point (many people said that was fine) but honestly found that car too uncomfortable for longer trips.

FF is also a very good option (had that before my Lusso) and drives perhaps a little more 'involving' than a Lusso.

The Roma would make a perfect daily driver, since it is the full package of beauty, performance, and usability. I have two low ground clearance cars, and have found the constant threat of scraping the bumper or diffuser annoying for daily use. I have a more sensible porsche that I use for that.

Welcome my friend! I would argue the only way to know for sure is to test drive them. Akin to asking another what should be your favorite wine, music, or art. Only you can answer that question for yourself, nobody else.

    Kind regards.

You are totally right. Based on what many people are saying (friends, forum members, my FM dealer in Florida), the best daily drivers (including reliability, comfort, …) seem to be the Portofino/California, the FF/Lusso and now probably the Roma (and Purosangue in the future). Moderator, talking about the Purosangue, should a model specific section be opened just for this model? Great website!!

    Hello and welcome.

I'm assuming you meant F8 ;) The market today is definitely a sellers market. If you are truly in the early stages, you may want to sit on the sidelines for a while unless cost is of no issue.

    Kind regards,

    Joe

For daily first choice is California or Portifino.
If money is more available then 812.
488 or F8 could be everyday but some compromises with rear mid engine package.

No supercar is likely to be comfortable for long road trips. Best value in a Ferrari GT car that you're looking for is the 599 GTB in my opinion.
