There is usually 1 or 2, it would be difficult to find them on the internet since they are prob going to private dealer sales. I think there are only a couple in the US. Wyclef Jean has one, My friends dads friend has one. those are the only 2 i know of in the US

One of the magazines currently out did a comparo between the McLaren F1 and Enzo Ferrari. Following the article it talked about a few recently sold. One was am F1 LM that had been auctioned for 1.25mil. The LM is the one celebrating the Le Mans victories and was pretty much an unrestricted GTR. I've heard two different outputs for the model; one at 680 hp and one at 691 hp. There were only 5 made. I thought that they all in papaya orange but this one was in what they called a tangerine orange (kind of metallic orange). The owner lives in Florida. He's on his second Enzo, too, cause he crashed his first one.
Anyways, he has to get it certified under OBD-II because it is a 96. The magazine estimated by the time he got it imported it would cost him 1.4mil. I believe it also said that there are already 7 F1's in the US. I know of the one in Texas and Arizona already like mentioned before. I know Ralph Lauren got one back when they were in production and was contemplating on getting a second. I'll look for that Magazine the next time I'm at Borders as it's out on the shelf right now.

I saw one in Los Angeles, 3 weeks ago - parked outside a restaurant on La Cienega. I was coming out of the restaurant having had dinner there on my Birthday. It was silver. Very cool.

I sat in one in London about 6 years ago - in Hyde Park.. Was hoping for a drive in it but it didn't work out.

Since there are so few and they still are very desirable, owners tend to name their own price.
Probably won't drop below $1M in a looong time...

Faisal should chime in here, but there are quite a few more than 7 in the country. I know of at least 10, including one of the 5 LMs (only one in the country? 1 in London and the other 3 with the Sultan...).

024 - Jim Clark, Netscape guy
    045 - Laurence Strohl
    062 - also Ralph Lauren

i was under the impression Benny Caiola never owned one. I have never heard of him owning one. It was a rumor.

I can't belive i forgot Jims, i was thinking about it while i was writing that and must have forgotten. But yes,

024 - Jim Clark - Silver - FL. The Shelton Car

062 is not Ralph Lauren's, actually i have no info for the car. I'd be interested to know how you thought that.

I didn't put Laurence Strohl's on there because i think he keeps it in Canada

I also heard from someone there might be a new mclaren in the us somewhere on the West coast, possibly Washington and heard reports of a black car in Texas, which is probably wyclefs but you never know

I don't think there are any LM's in London. i'm fairly certain. Are you sure it wasn't a GTR with an "LM Kit" which is basically making a GTR race car street legal and painting it orange to make it look like an LM.

I was under the impression the other LM was in Japan, but if that one has been sold and you know otherwise, please let me know, on the boards or privately. It would be appreciated if you do have any info on the car.

I'm 99% sure Benny has never owned a McLaren, I asked him about it this past new years when he was giving me a tour of his Enzo and Zonda and said he was never a big fan, didn't like the seating position or something of that nature-- great guy!

One of the guys on your list (won't disclose his name) on the east coast just picked up a second one, not an LM but from what I understand, a good amount of modifications...

    Chris,

I don't have any specific information about it, just what I last remembered. Could be in the Japanese collection to which you refer... in fact, most likely.

Soemone needs to pry those other three out of Brunei. Last time I talked to Frank, he could not stop about how radically different the LM is from the road car, if you could believe it. Beyond night and day were his words.
