Although, if it's an automatic, I can understand not wanting to drive it. :) :)

I like Jay Leno's approach: restore the car to 100 points, drive it until it's down to 70 points and then start the cycle over again.

I second Jay Leno's approch, but then agian if it was not for all those people who brought cars, fixed them up and did not drive them and finially sold them I would not have a supply of good used cars to chose from:)
I can not tell, how many time I have pulled the dash matts, seat covers, etc. to expose the pretty factory stuff saved all those years for me to use up, I guess I should say Thanks!! becouse I would never spend money to buy new or restore and not use and save for some one elses use.

AMEN to this post! Totally agree! Just wish I could afford to do the Jay Leno thing!

Off topic, I was just reading in Auto Week (cool garages section) that Ralph Lauren has 3 (yes THREE) McLaren F1's! OMG! And of course a ZILLION other cars too! Many WAY more valuable than even the vaunted Mc F1's!

Yeah...I drove a Toyota FX16 automatic once. Same thing. Gutless down low, but once it got going, it wasn't too bad. :) Yes, I just compared a Toyota FX16 to a Ferrari 400i. Thank you, <bow>, show ongoing 'till 11.

I wouldn't say the auto 400 is gutless low down; it does make for smooth driving in town or at low speeds, and when you open it up it really goes. Have you ever driven a 400 with either transmission?

Aidan, I was just kidding around. Although I'm a "manual transmission nazi", I don't fault people for getting the automatics. I certainly wouldn't do it, but hey, whatever blows your hair back. All of my cars are manual transmission cars, including our Audi Allroad.

That being said, the only time I've been in a 400i was when Ed took me for a drive in 44121 down in Ft Lauderdale. Sad, but true.
