I just hooked this up and from what I can tell "normal" mode is what I should be using to maintain my battery while the car is not being used? The other modes don't sound like "trickle" charging.

Depends on your battery type. If std wet cell, normal. If AGM, snowflake.

Using standard mode on am AGM won't damage it will it? I noticed it's just a .3 volt difference. I'll get under the dash and see what type I have.

Interesting...I have an odyssey and I have been using the charger in normal mode...guess I should have read the instructions!

Probably not. But standard mode won’t keep the charge up to optimal levels on an AGM battery.

It won't damage the battery, and should keep an AGM fully charged. Just read the Odyssey technical manual https://www.odysseybattery.com/documents/US-ODY-TM-002_1214.pdf
It is not real clear. The higher charging voltage definitely makes a difference in deep cycle use, their chart shows the higher voltage will give you more cycles (life). But as a starting battery, where only a small discharge happens, and then recharged by the alternator, which nominally is 13.8 to 14.2 volts, or using a battery tender at 14.4 volts, it isn't really clear that it matters. Odessey does clearly state your charging voltage should be between 14.2 volts and 15 volts. With 14.7 volts ideal for deep cycle applications.

Reading the recommendations of Optima, they say a regular battery tender is fine, but if your tender has an AGM setting, to go ahead and use it.
So obviously, makes sense to use the AGM setting when offered, but doesn't sound like it is required, except in deep cycle use, like a golf cart, boat, or other such deep cycle applications.
