Hey all, I’m thinking about making the COTA GP this year and was wondering if anyone has had experience with GA verses Reserved seating. I’ve heard that many prefer GA due to the layout, but I’ve never been to the track so I have no perspective. Appreciate any stories or insight. Thanks! ~ John
I haven't been in years, but this photo was taken from the GA section in turn 1. That space fills up FAST, so an early arrival and some running is required to get the spot. It's also heavily sloped, so tough to keep a chair upright. Image Unavailable, Please Login
GA is good, I enjoyed it. Get there early if you want a great spot, its crowded. Especially turn one. I personally would do GA because I like to walk around. Parking can be a little ways off depending on the lot you choose. But they have shuttles. Its a great facility you will have fun. As you may know from going to races, F1 Cota requires you be patient with crowds in certain areas when traveling around the track.
I'm spoiled by TV coverage of all the races...good and bad. I'd love to watch a race live (in Los Angeles time) at a restaurant that had the prerequisite big screen TV, and served great Pancakes, waffles, French Toast, bacon and hash browns...and hot coffee.
Lots of great viewing around COTA for GA, but like others said it - gotta get there earlier. I've been there in 2016 and 2017.
Park with the nice family across the Street from the Tunr 1 gate, best $40 you'll spend, get some breakfast and walk in T1 gate. They hid me in the fiasco two years ago...let me dry out my camping gear and finish changing clothes! I ate a lot and we drank a lot..LOL! I left the Parking Girls with Mardi Gras beads look for them waving signs and parking you in the Horse Pasture behind the house, all COTA Parking has become a cluster &^%(&5...especially leaving after the event,
As have ALL of the Shuttles from downtown or Convention Center....but GO at sunrise, Sunday as anything after noon you'll miss the event and not have fiun.
There's also families Parking in yards at Lots M and N, but that's a longer walk in...That's Volunteers and Corse Marshalls those Lots.
We went to COTA last year, in reserved grandstand. We used the reserved seats for quali and the race; otherwise we walked the track and hung out in different places for the other sessions. We were thankful to have the reserved seats - as others have mentioned, for quali and the race you will see nothing but other fans’ heads unless you get there very early to secure and hold a spot for many hours. For me, I wouldn’t do GA unless you want to just attend Fri and Sat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
