My client is moving in Germany and he is planning to buy 458 Italia. Currently he is owner of 997.1 Carrera S (he is making around 7K km per year) . We were discussing about whole idea and I`ve propositioned him to check costs of owning such car in Germany here on forum before he even start looking for car. I was searching various topics on forum regarding this subject, but all threads are covering US.

He plans to take 2010 458 Italia. Car will be mostly used by weekends on Autobahn and for trips to Italy, Switzerland and France.

I am wondering is there anyone informed about annual costs of owning 458 Italia in Germany including prices, regarding service, taxes, special taxes for high CO2, insurance etc.

P.S. Tires and fuel should be excluded from calculation.

The general rule would be: if you can afford a 458, tax and insurance are kind of "peanuts" compared to a lot of other countries. Tax for a 4.5 litre petrol engined car from 2014 is around 300€ per year, no joke. God save Mrs Merkel... :)

Insurance is another thing though. The longer you own a car in Germany without crashing it, the more discount you receive from your insurance. No idea where you will start when moving here but probably at 100% or even more. Expect between 1.200 and 3.500€ per year depending on your demanded coverage and your so called "Schadensfreiheitsrabatt".

I currently pay per year at 35%:

    Caterham JPE € 800,-
    Lotus Elise € 450,-
    Aston Vantage V8 € 1.400,-
    Cayenne S € 1.350,-

This is all-in-insurance (vollkasko), so the insurance pays the damage even if I crash the car myself.

No quote for my F-car yet, still on its way to Germany.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Let me know if I can help.

Some more info on insurance in Germany:

Be sure to get a free insurance agent who'll present to you
a couple of offers from different insurers.

The insurance my Ferrari-dealer offered me is about twice (!)
the cost per annum that I am paying NOW with a different
insurer. Mind you, this is NOT a 'normal' tariff, but a so
called 'exotics tariff' where the costs are about EUR 2k p.a.
with mileage up to 15k km p.a., closed (private) garage and
the only driver accepted being ME. Also, I had to prove them
that I had had cars of this power-range before and had taken
part in at least 3 special driving-instructions with this kind of
    machines (which is sensible anyway).

All in all, prices are actually quite low over here. Guess it's a
kind of compensation for the petrol prices that -especially
comparing it to the US- are sort of ridiculous...

    Best,
    Ulli

Maybe he should consider fuel in this lol. I've put 1600€ in fuel in my ff in the last 4 weeks.....

I cannot be much help in maintenance as my 458 has it included.

For someone new to the country is say 3000€ a year for insurance.

Registration and tax is cheap as mentioned above.

Really aside from the initial purchase it's not that expensive.

Thank you guys for awesome inputs! He is pretty surprised with (fairly) low costs you guys mentioned.

He is still waiting answers from service, but he is expecting no more than 1000 Euros for regular yearly service. He already got offer for tires, Michelin Pilot Super Sport, front set 408.20 Euros, and rear set 592.80 Euros.

From your answers, tax costs and rough predictions about insurance cost is totally ok with him (he like idea of insurance discounts if you are responsible driver). However, he was asking me should he bring documents for insurance so they can see he had sports cars before, he had no accidents and that he had advanced driving training back in 2003.

We discussed about some rough numbers in total:

    Yearly service - 1000 Euros
Insurance - more than 3000 Euros for start
    Tax - 300 Euros
    Tires - around 1000 Euros
Yearly detailing of interior/exterior - minimum 500 Euros

Fuel is not his main concern since he is used on higher fuel consumption, but it would be useful if some of you guys can say how much you spend on fuel driving 458 Italia or similar car in Germany (like I said he is making around 7K km per year).

In Italy an FF costs u 10k euros per year in just taxes plus now they are also taking away the bonuses for cars older than 20 years. ****in retarded politicians and parasite statalists. Insurance would be around 4/5k here too. Not less.

Germany is definitely another world. Wish I could move my factory there.

To Milanno : tell your man to have the 4/5k euros per year Ferrari Approved coverage on the car he buys. If he buys a non Ferrari-Approved used car, be sure to tell him to make it Ferrari-Approved by a dealer ASAP.

U DO NOT WANT to deal with the notorious transmission and gearbox problems of the 2009/10 DCTs without being covered. TRUST ME. :(
