I found an experienced installer to change my 355 spider windshield. He has done many Ferraris and is 100% confident that he knows what he is doing and he can re-use the existing trim kit thus saving me 1000$+.

However, he is charging 500$ of labour, is this justifiable? Is a Ferrari more difficult than a regular vehicle? Is he just overcharging because it's a Ferrari?

What do you guys think? Is this a normal price or should I shop around/negotiate?

Had mine replaced 3 years ago, with Ferrari glass (not some cheap knock-off), and the whole thing came in at about $5500. Not sure what the split between labor and glass/trim was, as I ran it through my insurance. $1000 glass deductible. PHEW!

My guess would be that $500 for labor is pretty good. The shop that changed my glass out had the car for the entire day. If they're going to reuse the trim pieces, I would suspect they are going to take their time. I wouldn't sweat that quoted rate.

If you really believe he can do it and will save the trim kit then I would have no problem with that cost. You may be paying a premium, but you are paying that premium because he is experienced with Ferrari's and won't F up your car, not simply because it is a Ferrari. you may Save $200 going with someone else, but it may take twice as long and come with some broken trim pieces and who knows what else.

Well I guess I cant complain...I am getting an original Ferrari Sigla OEM windshield for 875$ + 500$ for labor is a whole lot better than 5500$

That's a great deal, very resourceful of you. Don't worry about $500, it's a drop in the bucket with these cars sadly. I'm getting two aftermarket aluminum radiators for my 355, and they're almost $2k US just for the rads. Ferrari wants an INSANE amount for more plastic crap. Good luck with your restore!

    A deal is a deal

    There is an old joke

A guy called a TV repairman once to fix his TV.

The repairman came over, looks at the TV, pulled put a rubber hammer from his bag, and hit the TV on the side.

The TV started working perfectly. The owner was ecstatic.

The repairman gave him the bill: $200

The TV owner was upset. "I'm not paying $200 for that! I want an itemized bill"

The repairman said "Ok, here is your itemized bill"

    It read:

    Hitting TV with hammer: $5.

Knowing where to hit TV: $195.
